Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers Then and Now by John P. Lathrop Pdf

In Ephesians 4:11, the apostle Paul tells us that Jesus gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to the church. He did this in the days of the New Testament; the question is, does Jesus still give all of them to the church today? This book seeks to address this question. In this book you will find: . The ministries of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers defined. . Names of people in the Bible who held these ministries. . Descriptions of each ministry from a biblical-historical perspective. . An examination of the contemporary expressions of the ministries of evangelists, pastors, and teachers. . Answers to objections about the presence of apostles and prophets in the church today. . A case for the continuance of the ministries of apostles and prophets in the modern church. . A description of the ministries of apostles and prophets in the contemporary church. John P. Lathrop is a graduate of Zion Bible College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He is an Ordained Minister with the International Fellowship of Christian Assemblies and is currently active in pastoral ministry at the Christian Pentecostal Church in Newton, MA. In addition to pastoring, he regularly writes for Vista magazine, the official publication of the International Fellowship of Christian Assemblies, and for the Pneuma Review, a publication of the Pneuma Foundation. He has ministered overseas in the countries of Indonesia and Zimbabwe. He and his wife, Cynthia, are the parents of five adult children: Carrie, Joshua, Deborah, Stephen, and Daniel. The Lathrops also have two grandchildren.

Modern Day Apostles & Prophets by Les D Crause Pdf

This Is What Apostles and Prophets Look Like Now Just before the end of the last century, the ministry and office of the Prophet were restored to the Church. Apostle Les was involved in helping pave the way for this, and he presented the first clear teachings on the Prophetic Office.A while later, as the new century dawned, the first signs of a new Apostolic Movement began to appear. And once again, he was there to present some of the first clear teachings on the Apostolic Office. But a lot has happened since then, and these two vital ministries have come into clearer focus in recent years. Now Apostles and Prophets are appearing everywhere. And it has become necessary for us to consolidate what exactly these ministries should look like, and how they should function. That is the main purpose for this new book on these ministries. Here you will find updated teachings on both of these ministries, and a clearer understanding of how they are meant to be in the end times in which we live. God is once again building His end times church on the foundation of these two essential ministry offices: Ephesians 2:19 Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone]; (GBMV) If this is where God is taking you, then this book is for you.

Modern Day Prophet by Douglas Duncan Pdf

The author is the only person ever declared medically dead to be resurrected by God and sent back with a message for God's people. Taken away from a life in the fast lane while earning fame and riches for all the wrong reasons, the author thought that when the government was done with him he would live the rest of his life comfortably along with all of his ill-gotten gains. That would not be the case because God in His mercy had answered his mother's prayers for her son to be returned to worshipping Jesus. When the government was finished God was just getting started, first stripping him of pride and wealth while teaching the author humility and obedience. Then through revelations, visions, and prophecies followed with signs and wonders, the author learned the truths that have not been taught to the church ever since the last apostle died. This book teaches what God wants you to learn. Overcoming sin, obtaining perfection, and living a holy life are the commandments from Jesus Christ to His church. When these commandments are fulfilled as the apostles fulfilled them, God will work the same signs and wonders through His people today that He did 1900 years ago in the first century apostolic church. Within this book is the knowledge the apostles had that will allow Christians to once again worship in spirit and in truth. Prophecy determined that the forgotten knowledge of the truth would return to the church and once again God would be glorified through His saints when people are healed and the dead are raised alive. Through acquiring the wisdom revealed in this book, you will gain the faith needed for miracles to happen and bring about the revival that will usher in the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.

New Apostolic Reformation? by R. Douglas Geivett,Holly Pivec Pdf

This critique provides a framework for understanding and interpreting the widespread but little-known New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement. As the authors state in the preface: "We write this book with two major goals in mind. First, to give people an idea of the sheer size and reach of the NAR movement. And second, to systematize its key teachings and practices and evaluate them on the basis of Scripture and careful reasoning . . In our judgment, the NAR perspective crosses these boundaries [that is, certain broad parameters, revealed in Scripture and practiced in the historical orthodox church], and it does so in part because of flawed theology rooted in a flawed understanding of Scripture. We wish to warn readers about a possible confusion: Some critics have linked the NAR movement with mainstream Pentecostalism and charismatics. We do not do this. In fact, it is our contention that the NAR movement deviates from classical Pentecostal and charismatic teachings. This movement has emerged out of independent charismatic churches and, thus, has gained a foothold in many of those churches in varying degrees."

Apostles and Prophets by Rick Renner Pdf

Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God by Jonathan Edwards ,FELIPE CHAVARRO POLANIA Pdf

Preached at Enfield, Connecticut on July 8, 1741, this is perhaps the greatest sermon ever preached in America—and is certainly among the most well known. Owing to its forthright dealing with God’s wrath and His intense hatred of sin and the sinner, it is also one of the most controversial. Indeed, for more than three-quarters of the sermon Edwards lays down a relentless stream of the most vivid and horrifying descriptions of the danger facing unregenerate men. While it is difficult to read such graphic language, there is abundant hope in the sermon’s conclusion. Edwards puts it this way, “And now you have an extraordinary opportunity, a day wherein Christ has thrown the door of mercy wide open and stands calling and crying with a loud voice to poor sinners.” While those who would rather ignore God’s justice in favor of His mercy condemn Edwards and his sermon, those who were present and actually heard him preach that day reacted in a decidedly different manner. According to the diary of Reverend Stephen Williams who attended the sermon, “Before the sermon was done there was a great moaning and crying through the whole House, ‘what shall I do to be saved; oh, I am going to hell, etc.’” The diary goes on to indicate that Edwards had to interrupt his sermon and come down to minister to those who were under such awful conviction. And so, in spite of what the scoffers might think or say, “the amazing and astonishing power of God” was manifested among the people that day—with many falling not into the hands of an angry God, but into the arms of a mighty Savior.

Apostles by Howard Durfee Pdf

This book represents an almost fifty-year period of both study and practical training in Christian ministry. For the author, Dr. Howard W. Durfee, it has been his life’s work. Howard’s quest for Christian truth began shortly after he was saved by the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. During his study at three of the leading seminaries of the world—Harvard Divinity School, The University of Edinburgh, and Fuller Theological Seminary—Howard was taught that the gifts and ministries of the New Testament had for the most part passed away after the New Testament era. There seemed to be a general confusion about why they had passed away. Regardless of all the theories, the important thing to Howard was that he could find no one in theological schools able to operate in the apostolic or prophetic ministries as described in the New Testament. The biggest shock to Howard was when he found less educated, nonseminary-trained ministers who claimed to be apostles and prophets. The problem was that these less scholarly ministers appeared to have both the gifts and ministries operating with the power of the Holy Spirit. In a search for truth, Howard determined to prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that there could be no modern apostles or prophets. The only problem was that Howard could not disprove the existence of modern apostles or prophets based on the New Testament or on church history. What follows in this book is the result of a lifetime of study on the apostolic ministry. After an introduction by Dr. Chuck Flynn, Howard defends the necessity of modern apostles. He then defines and describes what a New Testament apostle is. Next, Howard describes apostles as leaders to the church. Finally, Howard describes the three major historical functions of the apostolic ministry—to found churches, to govern churches, and to train the other New Testament ministries.
