The book presents a new scientific approach to the problem of biomechanical systems description.This approach is based on development of a universal anthropomorphic model and employment of methodology of imitational dynamic modeling (IDM). The novelty of this approach is that there appears a possibility to operate with a whole class of models, derived from the universal model on the basis of motion separation principle. This is followed by utilization of iterational procedures realizing the method of successive approximations and resulting in description of the real motion with the pre-set accuracy level. By use of the IDM there has been for the first time ascertained certain laws governing human locomotions: presence of so-called controlling and stabilizing interlink moments, wavelike speeding of forces extremums along the kinematic chain, adaptation of control functions for astronauts motion coordination preservation. The book includes new theoretical conceptions explaining the deterioration of functional state of skeletal-muscular apparatus of astronauts due to zero-gravity influence.

Summary: A theoretical study was made of the angular motions of spinning bodies in space. The analysis was based on Euler's dynamic equations which were linearized and solved analytically. The results of the study are directly applicable only to spin-stabilized vehicles with constant moments of inertia and angular displacements not exceeding about 15°. Simple analytical expressions were obtained which relate angular motions to spin-rate and inertia distributions for a given disturbance. Consideration was given to the effects produced by having artificial damping in the system. The study included numerical examples and comparisons of analytical solutions with machine solutions of exact dynamic equations. The analysis indicated that angular motions are sensitive to inertia distributions. In considering a rectangular-pulse pitching moment, it was found that the residual motion was very sensitive to the time at which the moment was removed. Artificial damping due to a perfect proportional control system seemed to be more advantageous to pencil-like configurations than to disk-like configurations.

The current state of technology makes it possible to create humanoid robots that nearly walk like a human being, climb stairs, or avoid small - stacles. Control of such fast motions is still a big technological issue in robotics, and the maximum running speed of contemporary robots is still much smaller than that of human track runners. A theoretical method is derived for computing the motions and hydrodynamic loads during water landings of prismatic bodies involving appreciable immersion of the chines. A simplified method of computation covering flat-plate and V-bottom bodies with beam-loading coefficients greater than unity is given as a separate section. Comparisons of theory with experiment are presented as plots of impact lift coefficient and maximum draft-beam ratio against flight-path angle and as time histories of loads and motions. Fair agreement is found to exist for chine-immersed landings for angles of dead rise of 0 degrees and 30 degrees, beam-loading coefficients from 1 to 36.5, flight-path angles from 2 to 90 degrees, and trims from 6 to 45 degrees.
