Parkett Collaborations & Editions Since 1984 by Deborah Wye,Susan Tallman Pdf

For nearly two decades Parkett has been the leading international journal on contemporary art. Its in-depth presentations on artists have become the standard for criticism and analysis, and being selected to be in Parkett is considered an honor for contemporary artists worldwide. More than 100 artists have collaborated with Parkett on both the journal's content and the production of special art editions made available to the readers of Parkett. In this new catalogue raisonne, each of the 120 artists' editions are fully documented and reproduced in full color. Along with the editions, this volume also pays tribute to the many authors who have written texts for Parkett by providing a complete index of their contributions, and it reproduces each Parkett cover, now more than 60, in full color. Deborah Wye, a curator at the Museum of Modern Art, writes an essay looking at the various methods of collaboration between Parkett and the artists, including the editions, inserts, spines, covers, and design of the publication. Susan Tallman explores the diversity and richness of the artists' editions through the years. This book coincides with the exhibition Collaborations with Parkettt: 1984 to Now, at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in the spring of 2001.

Next Generation Earth System Prediction by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine,Division on Earth and Life Studies,Ocean Studies Board,Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate,Committee on Developing a U.S. Research Agenda to Advance Subseasonal to Seasonal Forecasting Pdf

As the nation's economic activities, security concerns, and stewardship of natural resources become increasingly complex and globally interrelated, they become ever more sensitive to adverse impacts from weather, climate, and other natural phenomena. For several decades, forecasts with lead times of a few days for weather and other environmental phenomena have yielded valuable information to improve decision-making across all sectors of society. Developing the capability to forecast environmental conditions and disruptive events several weeks and months in advance could dramatically increase the value and benefit of environmental predictions, saving lives, protecting property, increasing economic vitality, protecting the environment, and informing policy choices. Over the past decade, the ability to forecast weather and climate conditions on subseasonal to seasonal (S2S) timescales, i.e., two to fifty-two weeks in advance, has improved substantially. Although significant progress has been made, much work remains to make S2S predictions skillful enough, as well as optimally tailored and communicated, to enable widespread use. Next Generation Earth System Predictions presents a ten-year U.S. research agenda that increases the nation's S2S research and modeling capability, advances S2S forecasting, and aids in decision making at medium and extended lead times.

Applications of Computer Vision in Automation and Robotics by Krzysztof Okarma Pdf

This book presents recent research results related to various applications of computer vision methods in the widely understood contexts of automation and robotics. As the current progress of image analysis applications may be easily observed in various areas of everyday life, it becomes one of the most essential elements of development of Industry 4.0 solutions. Some of the examples, partially discussed in individual chapters, may be related to the visual navigation of mobile robots and drones, monitoring of industrial production lines, non-destructive evaluation and testing, monitoring of the IoT devices or the 3D printing process and the quality assessment of manufactured objects, video surveillance systems, and decision support in autonomous vehicles.

Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing by Ruslan Mitkov,Nicolas Nicolov Pdf

This volume is based on contributions from the First International Conference on “Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing” (RANLP'95) held in Tzigov Chark, Bulgaria, 14-16 September 1995. This conference was one of the most important and competitively reviewed conferences in Natural Language Processing (NLP) for 1995 with submissions from more than 30 countries. Of the 48 papers presented at RANLP'95, the best (revised) papers have been selected for this book, in the hope that they reflect the most significant and promising trends (and latest successful results) in NLP. The book is organised thematically and the contributions are grouped according to the traditional topics found in NLP: morphology, syntax, grammars, parsing, semantics, discourse, grammars, generation, machine translation, corpus processing and multimedia. To help the reader find his/her way, the authors have prepared an extensive index which contains major terms used in NLP; an index of authors which lists the names of the authors and the page numbers of their paper(s); a list of figures; and a list of tables. This book will be of interest to researchers, lecturers and graduate students interested in Natural Language Processing and more specifically to those who work in Computational Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics and Machine Translation.

Environment and Earth Observation by S. Hazra,A. Mukhopadhyay,A. R. Ghosh,D. Mitra,V. K. Dadhwal Pdf

This book presents relevant and contemporary research on the remote sensing of landscapes, agriculture & forestry, geomorphology, coasts & oceans, natural hazards and wild habitats. It highlights the application of remote sensing in understanding natural processes and oceanic features, as well as in creating mapping inventories of water resources across different spatial and temporal scales. Recent advances in hyperspectral imaging and high spatial resolution offer promising techniques for exploring various aspects related to the fruitful and cost-effective monitoring of large-scale environments. In the field of forestry and agriculture, the book addresses topics such as terrain analysis, forest management, updating current forest inventories, and vegetation cover type discrimination. It also elaborates delineation of various geo-morphological features of the earth’s surface and natural disasters, and includes a special section on the remote sensing of wild habitats. Readers working in interdisciplinary sectors engaged in remote-sensing-based research benefit from the techniques presented.

Frederick Mccubbin- Whisperings in Wattle Boughs by Lisa Sullivan Pdf

This publication accompanies two exhibitions that celebrate the 125th anniversary of the establishment of Geelong Gallery in 1896; that honour one of the first and greatest acquisitions to enter the collection; and that assert this Gallery's enduring commitment to the critical visions of contemporary artists.Frederick McCubbin-Whisperings in wattle boughs takes its lyrical title from McCubbin's quietly mesmerising painting of 1886, in which he depicts a solitary man in repose, contemplating the earth, listening to the rustling of the bush around him while his tea boils in the billy nearby. This evocative work sets the tone for an exhibition centred on one of the treasures of Geelong Gallery: McCubbin's much loved A bush burial 1890, the first major painting to enter the Gallery's collection, purchased through public subscription in 1900. A bush burial is brought into dialogue with a selection of other now-iconic paintings in which McCubbin redefined the Australian bush and elaborated the place and roles of human subjects within it. It is, therefore, a focussed thematic survey rather than a broad ranging retrospective of McCubbin's output and follows two recent Geelong-curated scholarly thematic exhibitions: Land of the Golden Fleece- Arthur Streeton in the Western Districts (2016) and Fred Williams in the You Yangs (2017).
