In accordance with the agreement at the Roundtable Meeting of the Ministers of Social Affairs of the Baltic Sea Region in 2006 to co-operate on the social consequences in the fight against sex trafficking, the Nordic Council of Ministers for Social Affairs and Health (MR-S) initiated the project Nordic-Baltic knowledge overview and action plan for removing obstacles to health care access in sexual trafficking. The project consisted of three parts, a Nordic-Baltic expert meeting to review the current knowledge, a Nordic-Baltic case study conducted in all eight countries, and a concluding international conference in Riga 2010. The project focused on the damage of both physical and mental health as the consequences of sexual exploitation in trafficking. As sex trafficking crosses borders joint frameworks are needed for tackling the problem and to improve access to health care for the victims, both during the act of trafficking as well as post-trafficking ("Safe Return"). The report reveals that every country has chosen its own way on how to apply international legal measures into their national legal systems, and that there is a need of policies for long term rehabilitation. Further, a more in-depth knowledge on prevalence and types of mental and physical disorders over the different stages of sexual trafficking is needed for tailoring the health care.

Everyone needs knowledge about the media and information systems in order to express themselves and have a critical awareness towards media and different kinds of information content. Media and information literacy is perhaps the most important and significant tool for developing this kind of knowledge and ability. Media literacy definitions have been discussed in research literature for decades. Different models on media and information literacy include different parts. Potter (2010) approached the concept with the help of three questions: 1) What are the media? 2) What do we mean by media literacy? 3) What should be the purpose of media literacy? The answers to these questions are complementary to each other and there is no need to try to agree on only one consensus definition. Similarly, a recent review of research articles by Lauri Palsa and Heli Ruokamo (2015) concludes that the definitions are multifaceted and that there is no consensus about the definition. The authors further argue that there is no need to find a general agreement. Rather, multiple media literacies should be discussed, which would possibly help contextualise different media literacy definitions and help both practitioners and researchers to understand each other. Nature provides us with a multitude of goods like food and fiber, drinking water, protection against floods and storms, carbon storage and recreational services like swimming and bird watching. Our welfare and well-being depend on these goods and services – often called ecosystem services, defined as “the benefit people directly and indirectly obtain from nature”. We often distinguish between four categories of ecosystem services; supporting, provisioning, regulating and cultural ecosystem services. This report aims to sum up and show some examples of the results of the ecosystem services projects carried out for NCM. It illustrates which ecosystem services we receive from Nordic nature and the importance of these. It also shows examples of how the ecosystem services approach has been and can be used in management of nature in the Nordic countries, and to point out some knowledge gaps.
