Titus Coan by Phil Corr Pdf

In this book Phil Corr provides a tour de force by writing for both the biography reader and the scholar. In this hybrid work he vividly portrays the life of Titus Coan, "the pen painter," while also filling gaps in the scholarship. These gaps include: the volume itself (no full-length published book has previously been written on Titus Coan) and the following chapters--"Patagonia," "Peace," and "Other Religions." Using the unpublished thesis by Margaret Ehlke and many other primary and secondary sources, he significantly deepens the understanding of Coan in many areas. This book is presented to the future reader for the purposes of edification and increasing the scholarship of this man who lived an incredible life during incredible times.

Universities in Change by Andreas Altmann,Bernd Ebersberger Pdf

Universities find themselves in dynamic change. They are confronted with growing expectations from their stakeholders, increasing international competition, and new technological challenges. Featuring insights and in-depth case studies from leading researchers and university decision makers from around the world, this book argues that institutions of higher education, in order to be successful, have to actively reflect on circumstances, visions, and strategies to master the future. Drawing from their experiences across a diverse array of institutions in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, the authors explore the pressures on today’s universities and the opportunities for excelling in the contest for resources. They discuss operational issues, such as strategic management, IT governance, leadership development, and entrepreneurial culture, and broader concerns, such as the roles and responsibilities of universities in promoting technology transfer and economic and social development. The result is a resource that not only reveals and analyzes universities from an organizational perspective, but presents best practice models and concrete inspiration for management and policymaking.

Stability and Change by Sheila Rosenblum,Karen Seashore Louis Pdf

Nearly a century ago, Emile Durkheim founded the sociology of educa tion on the French cultural and structural premise that the function of educators is to transmit culture from one generation to the next. The clarity of his vision was aided by the era, the place, and the actors in the learning environment. His was an era when the relatively seamless web of western culture, although ripping and straining, was still intact. The place, post-Napoleonic France, was vertically stratified and elaborately structured. And the teachers had reason to think they were agents of authority, whereas most students, during school hours at least, behaved as if they were the objects of that authority. Underlying the very notion of a sociology of education, then, was a visible and pervasive aura of a system and order that was culturally prescribed. Scholars of American education have yearned for such systems before and since Durkheim. Every European and English model has been emulated in a more or less winsome manner, from the Boston Latin School of the 1700s to the Open Education programs of the 1960s. In the last quarter century of research, it has begun to dawn on us, however, that no matter how hard American educators try, they do not build a system.

Limited Liability Partnership by Pramod Jain Pdf

The Limited Liability Partnership were introduced in India vide the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008. LLP has combined the flexibility of a partnership and the advantages of limited liability of a company at a low compliance cost. Limited Liability Partnership Law effective from 1st April 2009 is a new business vehicle that provides the benefits of limited liability of a company but allows its partners the flexibility of organizing their internal management on the basis of a mutually arrived agreement. The new concept of LLP is gaining strength in India. Procedures for LLP compliance have changed since 2009. Taxation of LLP has been made clear by the provisions made in the Income-tax Act, 1961 through the Finance (No 2) Act 2009 and Finance Act, 2010. An attempt has been made in this book to analyze the provisions of Limited Liability Partnership Act, Rules and its taxation keeping in mind the practical difficulties, which a business entity/professional could face while adhering to the provisions contained in laws. Tables, charts and examples have been used sparingly to make the provisions understand easily. Book would be immensely useful for Company Secretaries, Law professionals, Chartered Accountants and everyone concerned with formation, incorporation, conversion, administration & management, accounting & audit and taxation of a LLP. Happiness in Change by Lalitha Murthy Pdf

“The only constant in life is change,” said Heraclitus in ancient times. She observes and understands the impact these dynamic changes have had on her and other Indians. “What to do? You are a girl, and I can’t let you do these things.” Lakshmi grew up hearing her parents say this to her many times. Whether it was higher studies or travel, her gender seemed to be an impediment. As she grew up, she found this attitude slowly changing. All her life Lakshmi had battled many demons, and now, she is a successful entrepreneur. But is this what she wanted, or has happiness eluded her?

Japanese Management in Change by Norio Kambayashi Pdf

Following the burst of the “economic bubble” in the 1990s, many Japanese companies were required to reform their management systems. Changes in corporate governance were widely discussed during that decade in studies on “Japanese management.” These discussions have resulted in little progress, however, since Americanization became the dominant discourse concerning governance and the management system. There have been few studies conducted from an academic point of view on the internal aspects of organizations that practice traditional Japanese management theory. This book examines how, and the degree to which, the development of market principles accompanying the advances of globalization has affected the traditional Japanese system. It focuses on four aspects of corporate management: management institutions, strategy, organization, and human resource management. The aggregation of the new management system in Japanese companies is regarded as a distinctive Japanese-style system of management. With emphasis on these four aspects, research was conducted on the basic structure of that system, following changes in the market, technology, and society. Further, specific functions of the basic structure of the Japanese-style management system were studied. Those findings are included here, along with a discussion and analysis of the direction of future changes.

Strategic Business Partner by Dana Gaines Robinson Pdf

You'll note our reference to Human Resources and the term HR. We are viewing this area in its broadest sense, inclusive of the HR, Learning, and OD disciplines practiced today. Essentially, this book is written for people who work in the people side of any organization-for profit, not-for-profit, and public. This book is written from the perspective of someone who works within an organization, whether that organization is small or large. However, most of the techniques and practices are relevant to those individuals who work externally in a consultative role.
