Glacial and Quaternary Geology by Richard Foster Flint Pdf
"This volume contains new materials which include stratigraphy, sea floor stratigraphy and isotopic geochemistry including radiometric dating. The work retains the conjunction of two entities: systematic treatment of "glacial geology" involving process and strategraphic, environmental and historical discussion of the Quaternary."
Ice Age Earth provides the first detailed review of global environmental change in the Late Quaternary. Significant geological and climatic events are analysed within a review of glacial and periglacial history. The melting history of the last ice sheets reveals that complex, dynamic and catastrophic change occurred, change which affected the circulation of the atmosphere and oceans and the stability of the Earth's crust.
Quaternary Geology and Geomorphology, Smithers-Terrace-Prince Rupert Area, British Columbia by John J. Clague Pdf
This report contains a detailed description of the unconsolidated sedimentary materials and landforms in the Smithers-Terrace-Prince Rupert region, and an account of the geological processes that have been active in shaping this area during late Quaternary time. The information in this report is vital to an understanding of the character and distribution of agriculatural soils, the nature of foundation conditions, the location and extent of construction aggregate and aquifers, and the nature of natural hazards in the region.

History of Geomorphology and Quaternary Geology by R. H. Grapes Pdf
These papers deal with various aspects of the histories of geomorphology and Quaternary geology in different parts of the world. They include: the origin of the term 'Quaternary', histories of ideas and debates relating to aspects of fluvial geomorphology, glacial geomorphology and glaciation, desert dunes and the geology of Australia, peneplains in China, a palaeo-Tokyo Bay in Japan, together with biographies of Charles Cotton, Valerija Čepulytė and Česlovas Pakuckas that highlight their respective contributions to the disciplines of geomorphology and Quaternary geology.
Quaternary Geology, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia by D. R. Grant Pdf
This report describes and explains the unconsolidated surface materials and landforms of Cape Breton Island, tracing the history of geological processes that shaped the area during the late Cenozoic time and emphasizing the previous interglacial period and the last glacial period. Initial field work was conducted in the summers of 1970 and 1971. Documentation of the surficial geological map units was by ground observation. Most of the coast was studied on foot, with the remainder by boat. Additional incidental observations, local stratigraphic studies, and traverse of new highland forestry access roads were made on an opportunity basis in 1974, 1976, 1982, 1993, and 1994.
Quaternary and Glacial Geology by Jürgen Ehlers,Philip Leonard Gibbard Pdf
Quaternary geology is the study of the most recent period of geological time, looking at the Earth in terms of its development as a planet. This books examines the history of its life forms, the materials of which it is made, processes that affect these materials, and products that are formed from them.
Quaternary Geology for Scientists and Engineers by J. A. Catt Pdf
On the effects of Quaternary processes of erosion, deposition, soil development, and recognition and interpretation. Methods of classifying, correlating, mapping and dating are described, and the useful interrelations with other disciplines involved in Quaternary studies are explored. The wide range of analytical laboratory techniques applicable to Quaternary deposits are not described in detail, but their uses and limitations are discussed so that the field geologist can decide when it is worth calling upon the services of an expert analyst. The Geology of Scotland, 4th edition by N. H. Trewin Pdf
This 4th edition of The Geology of Scotland is greatly expanded from the previous edition with 34 authors contributing to 20 chapters. A new format has been adopted to provide a different perspective on the geology of Scotland. A brief introduction is followed by a chapter outlining some of the important historical aspects that in the 19th century placed Scottish geologists in the forefront of a new science. Scotland is constructed from a number of terranes that finally combined in roughly their present positions prior to about 410 million years ago. Thus the geology of each terrane is described up the time of amalgamation, providing chapters on the Southern Uplands, Midland Valley, Highlands, Grampian and Hebridean terranes. At the end of this section, a brief synthesis summarizes the events that resulted in the amalgamation of the various terranes into the present configuration. Traditional practice is followed in the description of the Old Red Sandstone, Carboniferous, Permo-Trias, Jurassic, Cretaceous, tertiary and Quaternary strata. A separate chapter covers Tertiary igneous rocks. An attempt is made to tell the story of the geological evolution of Scotland, rather than catalogue all areas and formations. Priority is given to the onshore geology, encouraging the reader to go into the field and visit some of the world-class geology on show in Scotland. The chapters are broadly-based, attempting to integrate the sedimentary and igneous histories, and summarize changes in palaeogeography and palaeoenvironments. Economic aspects are covered with chapters on Metalliferous Minerals, Bulk Resources, Coal and Hydrocarbons. A new departure is the chapter on aspects of Environmental Geology and sustainability. Additionally, this publication contains a colour section of 32 plates, illustrating aspects of Scottish Geology, as well as a coloured geological map of Scotland.
Quaternary Geology of Wollaston Peninsula, Victoria Island, Northwest Territories by David R. Sharpe,Geological Survey of Canada Pdf
Description of the Paleozoic carbonate lowlands, scarps and tablelands of the Wollaston Peninsula, situated between rises and arches of underlying Precambrian sedimentary and igneous rocks, and overlain by Quaternary sediments of Late Wisconsonian age, with examples of various glacial landforms.
Quaternary Geology of St. Anthony - Blanc-Sablon Area, Newfoundland and Quebec by D. R. Grant,Geological Survey of Canada Pdf
The study was prompted by a need for data on terrain conditions, soil materials, and glacial transport, which was required for mineral exploration, for the planning of a hydroelectric transmission corridor, for bedrock mapping, for forest inventory, and for land capability studies. A secondary reason for beginning a program of surficial mapping in this part of Newfoundland was the paucity of Quaternary geological information in a key area about which early reports debated the extent of glaciation, and where airphoto reconnaissance revealed significant new glacial and marine formations.
