Ridge Functions and Applications in Neural Networks by Vugar E. Ismailov Pdf
Recent years have witnessed a growth of interest in the special functions called ridge functions. These functions appear in various fields and under various guises. They appear in partial differential equations (where they are called plane waves), in computerized tomography, and in statistics. Ridge functions are also the underpinnings of many central models in neural network theory. In this book various approximation theoretic properties of ridge functions are described. This book also describes properties of generalized ridge functions, and their relation to linear superpositions and Kolmogorov's famous superposition theorem. In the final part of the book, a single and two hidden layer neural networks are discussed. The results obtained in this part are based on properties of ordinary and generalized ridge functions. Novel aspects of the universal approximation property of feedforward neural networks are revealed. This book will be of interest to advanced graduate students and researchers working in functional analysis, approximation theory, and the theory of real functions, and will be of particular interest to those wishing to learn more about neural network theory and applications and other areas where ridge functions are used.
Aggregation Functions in Theory and in Practise by Humberto Bustince Sola,Javier Fernandez,Radko Mesiar,Tomasa Calvo Pdf
This volume collects the extended abstracts of 45 contributions of participants to the Seventh International Summer School on Aggregation Operators (AGOP 2013), held at Pamplona in July, 16-20, 2013. These contributions cover a very broad range, from the purely theoretical ones to those with a more applied focus. Moreover, the summaries of the plenary talks and tutorials given at the same workshop are included. Together they provide a good overview of recent trends in research in aggregation functions which can be of interest to both researchers in Physics or Mathematics working on the theoretical basis of aggregation functions, and to engineers who require them for applications.
Selected Topics in Characteristic Functions by Nikolai G. Ushakov Pdf
The series is devoted to the publication of high-level monographs and surveys which cover the whole spectrum of probability and statistics. The books of the series are addressed to both experts and advanced students.
Feedforward Neural Network Methodology by Terrence L. Fine Pdf
This decade has seen an explosive growth in computational speed and memory and a rapid enrichment in our understanding of artificial neural networks. These two factors provide systems engineers and statisticians with the ability to build models of physical, economic, and information-based time series and signals. This book provides a thorough and coherent introduction to the mathematical properties of feedforward neural networks and to the intensive methodology which has enabled their highly successful application to complex problems.
Adaptive Modelling, Estimation and Fusion from Data by Chris Harris,Xia Hong,Qiang Gan Pdf
This book brings together for the first time the complete theory of data based neurofuzzy modelling and the linguistic attributes of fuzzy logic in a single cohesive mathematical framework. After introducing the basic theory of data based modelling new concepts including extended additive and multiplicative submodels are developed. All of these algorithms are illustrated with benchmark examples to demonstrate their efficiency. The book aims at researchers and advanced professionals in time series modelling, empirical data modelling, knowledge discovery, data mining and data fusion.
Features papers presented at the 1985 Conference in Function Estimation held at Humboldt State University. This work focuses on various types of spline estimations and convolution problems.
H. J. BEYER AND H. KLEINPOPPEN During the preparation of Parts A and B of Progress in Atomic Spectros copy a few years ago, it soon became obvious that a comprehensive review and description of this field of modern atomic physics could not be achieved within the limitations of a two-volume book. While it was possible to include a large variety of spectroscopic methods, inevitably some fields had to be cut short or left out altogether. Other fields have developed so rapidly that they demand full cover in an additional volume. One of the major problems, already encountered during the prepar ation of the first volumes, was to keep track of new developments and approaches which result in spectroscopic data. We have to look far beyond the area of traditional atomic spectroscopy since methods of atomic and ion collision physics, nuclear physics, and even particle physics all make important contributions to our knowledge of the static and dynamical state of atoms and ions, and thereby greatly add to the continuing fascination of a field of research which has given us so much fundamental knowledge since the middle of the last century. In this volume, we have tried to strike a balance between contribu tions belonging to the more established fields of atomic structure and spectroscopy and those fields where atomic spectroscopy overlaps with other areas.
