Songs Without Words by Robbi McCoy Pdf

This summer Harper Sheridan is looking for something new—love. As a librarian at Morrison College and a talented amateur musician, Harper has spent the last nineteen summers searching for her passionate, authentic self. Writers, painters and other artists she has sought out as her friends and role models fill her life in California’s diverse and fascinating Bay Area. But personal fulfillment continues to elude her. During an intense summer romance with vibrant, young Chelsea Nichols, Harper thought she had finally found what was missing. At the end of that summer, however, Chelsea returned to her ex. Harper catalogued the experience under Life Lessons and slowly healed her broken heart. Now, it’s summer once again, with all the promise of new beginnings. It’s looking like a summer of surprises when Harper's runaway teenaged niece shows up in the most unexpected of places—Chelsea’s house. That's when Harper realizes that not all the surprises will be pleasant ones. From the author of Waltzing at Midnight comes a story of music and love told through a lifetime of summers, when one woman must decide how much of her heart she will risk for the ultimate prize.

Song Without Words by Gerald Shea Pdf

Much has been written about the profoundly deaf, but the lives of the nearly 30 million partially deaf people in the United States today remain hidden. Song without Words tells the astonishing story of a man who, at the age of thirty-four, discovered that he had been deaf since childhood, yet somehow managed to navigate his way through Andover, Yale, and Columbia Law School, and to establish a prestigious international legal career. Gerald Shea's witty and candid memoir of how he compensated for his deafness -- through sheer determination and an amazing ability to translate the melody of vowels. His experience gives fascinating new insight into the nature and significance of language, the meaning of deafness, the fierce controversy between advocates of signing and of oral education, and the longing for full communication that unites us all. /DIV

Songs without Words (Complete) by Felix Mendelssohn,Maurice Hinson Pdf

These 48 pieces were composed over a period of two decades, beginning in 1832, and published in eight groups of six each. Many of these songs were dedicated to the women in Mendelssohn's life and reflect the sunniest qualities of his melodiousness, spontaneity and invention. Maurice Hinson has skillfully researched and edited these works back to their original form and provides a very informative introduction, which includes many detailed suggestions for a stylistic interpretation and performance, as well as biographical information on the composer's life.

Selected Writings of Max Reger by Christopher Anderson Pdf

Max Reger (1873-1916) was a celebrated German composer, performer on piano and organ, and conductor. Well known for his compositions for keyboards and orchestra, Reger worked during the crucial decades when Western music transformed itself from the misty veil of Romanticism and Impressionism to the more hard-edged modernism that would prevail in the 20th century. Less well known are his writings about music and the composer's craft. Although he wrote a major book on music theory published in 1903 (and translated into English a year later), his extended essays on composition, his fellow composers, and analysis have never appeared before in English. Christopher Anderson, a noted Reger scholar, has gone back to original manuscripts as well as the published versions of these writings to produce definitive new texts. Additionally, Anderson has written an opening essay placing Reger's writings and music in the context of his time. This volume will appeal strongly to those interested in the Late Romantic era, musical composition and aesthetics, and of course those interested in the music and life of Reger

Songs Without Words by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Pdf

On his sister Fanny's birthday on 14 November 1828 Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy surprised her with a piano piece in E flat major entitled 'Lied'. A little later, Fanny called the work 'Lied ohne Worte' (Song Without Words). This is the first time this term was mentioned, under which ca. 50 lyrical piano pieces by Mendelssohn became popular later. In his lifetime the composer had six volumes printed, and another two collections were compiled and published posthumously. The present edition is a selection of the most popular pieces at an intermediate level of difficulty.
