This comprehensive text explains the principles and practice of Web services and relates all concepts to practical examples and emerging standards. Its discussions include: Ontologies Semantic web technologies Peer-to-peer service discovery Service selection Web structure and link analysis Distributed transactions Process modelling Consistency management. The application of these technologies is clearly explained within the context of planning, negotiation, contracts, compliance, privacy, and network policies. The presentation of the intellectual underpinnings of Web services draws from several key disciplines such as databases, distributed computing, artificial intelligence, and multi-agent systems for techniques and formalisms. Ideas from these disciplines are united in the context of Web services and service-based applications. Featuring an accompanying website and teacher’s manual that includes a complete set of transparencies for lectures, copies of open-source software for exercises and working implementations, and resources to conduct course projects, this book makes an excellent graduate textbook. Service-oriented Software System Engineering by Zoran Stojanovi?,Ajantha Dahanayake Pdf

Current IT developments like component-based development and Web services have emerged as effective ways of building complex enterprise-scale information systems and providing enterprise application integration. To aid this process, platforms such as .NET and WebSphere have become standards in web-based systems development. However, there are still a lot of issues that need to be addressed before service-oriented software engineering (SOSE) becomes a prominent and widely accepted paradigm for enterprise information systems development and integration. This book provides a comprehensive view of SOSE through a number of different perspectives. Some of those perspectives include: service-based concepts, modeling and documentation, service discovery and composition, service-oriented architecture, model-driven development of service-oriented applications, service security and service-orientation in mobile settings. The book provides readers with an in-depth knowledge of the main challenges and practices in the exciting, new world of service-oriented software engineering. Addressing both technical and organizational aspects of this new field, it offers a balance making it valuable to a variety of readers, including IT architects, developers, managers, and analysts.

SOA Source Book by The Open Group Pdf

Software services are established as a programming concept, but their impact on the overall architecture of enterprise IT and business operations is not well-understood. This has led to problems in deploying SOA, and some disillusionment. The SOA Source Book adds to this a collection of reference material for SOA. It is an invaluable resource for enterprise architects working with SOA.The SOA Source Book will help enterprise architects to use SOA effectively. It explains: What SOA is How to evaluate SOA features in business terms How to model SOA How to use The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF™) for SOA SOA governance This book explains how TOGAF can help to make an Enterprise Architecture. Enterprise Architecture is an approach that can help management to understand this growing complexity.

Rigorous Software Engineering for Service-Oriented Systems by Martin Wirsing,Matthias Hölzl Pdf

Service-Oriented Computing is a paradigm for developing and providing software that can address many IT challenges, ranging from integrating legacy systems to building new, massively distributed, interoperable, evaluable systems and applications. The widespread use of SOC demonstrates the practical benefits of this approach. Furthermore it raises the standard for reliability, security, and performance for IT providers, system integrators, and software developers. This book documents the main results of Sensoria, an Integrated Project funded by the European Commission in the period 2005-2010. The book presents, as Sensoria's essence, a novel, coherent, and comprehensive approach to the design, formal analysis, automated deployment, and reengineering of service-oriented applications. Following a motivating introduction, the 32 chapters are organized in the following topical parts: modeling in service-oriented architectures; calculi for service-oriented computing; negotiation, planning, and reconfiguration; qualitative analysis techniques for SOC; quantitative analysis techniques for SOC; model-driven development and reverse engineering for service-oriented systems; and case studies and patterns.

Service-Driven Approaches to Architecture and Enterprise Integration by Ramanathan, Raja Pdf

While business functions such as manufacturing, operations, and marketing often utilize various software applications, they tend to operate without the ability to interact with each other and exchange data. This provides a challenge to gain an enterprise-wide view of a business and to assist real-time decision making. Service-Driven Approaches to Architecture and Enterprise Integration addresses the issues of integrating assorted software applications and systems by using a service driven approach. Supporting the dynamics of business needs, this book highlights the tools, techniques, and governance aspects of design, and implements cost-effective enterprise integration solutions. It is a valuable source of information for software architects, SOA practitioners, and software engineers as well as researchers and students in pursuit of extensible and agile software design.

Soft Computing Principles and Integration for Real-Time Service-Oriented Computing by Punit Gupta,Dinesh Kumar Saini,Kashif Zia Pdf

In recent years, soft computing techniques have emerged as a successful tool to understand and analyze the collective behavior of service- oriented computing software. Algorithms and mechanisms of self- organization of complex natural systems have been used to solve problems, particularly in complex systems, which are adaptive, ever- evolving, and distributed in nature across the globe. What fits more perfectly into this scenario other than the rapidly developing era of Fog, IoT, and Edge computing environment? Service- oriented computing can be enhanced with soft computing techniques embedded inside the Cloud, Fog, and IoT systems. Soft Computing Principles and Integration for Real-Time Service-Oriented Computing explores soft computing techniques that have wide application in interdisciplinary areas. These soft computing techniques provide an optimal solution to the optimization problem using single or multiple objectives. The book focuses on basic design principles and analysis of soft computing techniques. It discusses how soft computing techniques can be used to improve quality-of-service in serviceoriented architectures. The book also covers applications and integration of soft computing techniques with a service- oriented computing paradigm. Highlights of the book include: A general introduction to soft computing An extensive literature study of soft computing techniques and emerging trends Soft computing techniques based on the principles of artificial intelligence, fuzzy logic, and neural networks The implementation of SOC with a focus on service composition and orchestration, quality of service (QoS) considerations, security and privacy concerns, governance challenges, and the integration of legacy systems The applications of soft computing in adaptive service composition, intelligent service recommendation, fault detection and diagnosis, SLA management, and security Such principles underlying SOC as loose coupling, reusability, interoperability, and abstraction An IoT based framework for real time data collection and analysis using soft computing

At Your Service by Elisabetta Di Nitto Pdf

Research results from industry-academic collaborative projects in service-oriented computing describe practical, achievable solutions. Service-Oriented Applications and Architectures (SOAs) have captured the interest of industry as a way to support business-to-business interaction, and the SOA market grew by $4.9 billion in 2005. SOAs and in particular service-oriented computing (SOC) represent a promising approach in the development of adaptive distributed systems. With SOC, applications can open themselves to services offered by third parties and accessed through standard, well-defined interfaces. The binding between the applications and the services can be, in this context, extremely loose--enabling the ad hoc creation of new services when the need arises. This book offers an overview of some current research in the field, presenting the results of eighteen research projects funded by the European Community's Information Society Technologies Program (IST). The projects, collaborations between industry and academia, have produced practical, achievable results that point the way to real-world applications and future research. The chapters address such issues as requirement analysis, design, governance, interoperability, and the dependability of systems made up of components owned by third parties. The results are presented in the context of two roadmaps for research, one developed by European industry involved in software development and the other by researchers working in the service area. The contributors report first on the "Infrastructure Layer," then (in the bulk of the book) on the "Service Integration Layer," the "Semantic Layer," and finally on the issues that cut across the different layers. The book concludes by looking at ongoing research on both roadmaps.
