Performance Measurement and Incentive Systems in Purchasing by Erik Hofmann,Daniel Maucher,Martin Kotula,Oliver Kreienbrink Pdf

In recent years, purchasing performance measurement have steadily gained in importance in theory and practice. Yet, in many cases, the focus still remains on cost items, especially savings. Moreover, reported performance ratios in purchasing are frequently called into question in terms of their amount and efficacy. Most of the time, there is no tie-in at all with staff compensations. To meet these and other challenges, this book presents a holistic approach for purchasing performance measurement and the incentive systems associated with it. The following topics are dealt with in detail: • Purchasing performance measurement on the level of commodity groups and the procurement organization • Supplier evaluation and performance measurement on the level of the buyer-supplier relationship • Comprehensive systems for purchasing performance measurement, such as the procurement value added and the purchasing balanced scorecard • Performance-oriented incentive systems and bonus payments for buyers, procurement organizations and suppliers Readers are thus provided with comprehensive guidelines for the implementation and realization of sustained performance measurement and incentivization in purchasing.

Purchasing Performance by Derek Roylance Pdf

If the only measure of your organization's purchasing performance is forcing down prices from suppliers then not only is your purchasing team failing to add value, they may also be damaging your supply chain and the medium to long-term competitiveness of your organization. Derek Roylance's Purchasing Performance - Measuring, Marketing and Selling the Purchasing Function is a blueprint to help you identify the performance measures and marketing expertise that matter for your purchasing team. Buyers don't exist in isolation but often find it easier to focus excessively on the external market place leading to neglect and subsequent alienation of their internal customers. The book recommends operating the function as a business within a business. Part of this approach is to increase market share by better internal marketing and selling of their procurement expertise. The author provides practical methods for measuring purchasing performance and then communicating effectively - to the whole organization - the contribution the function can make to increase competitive advantage, profitability and all-round efficiency. In an intensely competitive world marketplace, purchasing can only achieve its true potential if it can persuade top decision makers that it will pay them to involve their procurement specialists in all major strategic decisions; the book shows how to achieve this top-level influence.

Organizational Concepts for Purchasing and Supply Management Implementation by Anonim Pdf

This report presents a construct for organizing Air Force (AT) acquisition and purchasing activities to execute Purchasing and supply Management (PSM). This design incorporates best commercial practices, information from interviews with Air Force personnel the Air Force Spares Campaign and results of our analysis of the current commercial PSM practices. The Spares Campaign was chartered by the Deputy Chief of Staff for Installations and Logistics to review the Air Force spare parts supply process. The report draws on spares Campaign process-based analysis supporting the decision to implement PSM and suggests organizational options for implementing PSM to better align contracting and logistics functions with process changes in procurement and strategic supplier supply base, and supply chain management. PSM is defined as a strategic, enterprise-wide long-term multi- functional, dynamic approach to selecting suppliers of goods and services and managing them and the whole value network from raw materials to final customer use and disposal to continually reduce total ownership costs, manage risks, and improve performance (quality responsiveness reliability and flexibility). The most basic tenets of PSM, listed below, support the integration of purchasing with supply management: * Supply base management (availability capacity and competitiveness) * Supplier management (performance measurement and improvement and collaboration) * Supply chain management (design and integration).

Supply Chain Performance Measurement & E-Business Supply Chain Management: Including a Practical Excursus on the Intel Case by Swen Beyer Pdf

Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Supply, Production, Logistics, grade: 1,2, European School of Business Reutlingen (Business Adminstration), language: English, abstract: The environmental surroundings of most companies have changed radically in recent years. Especially the competitive pressure has risen substantially over the past decades, fuelled by an increased globalization of markets and supply chains. In order to continuously satisfy consumer needs in a timely manner, organizations have to focus on performance and efficiency improvement measures. In terms of supply chain management, performance includes the three dimensions efficiency, effectiveness and flexibility which have to be dealt with on an equal basis. One mean to improve supply chain performance is the linkage between various IT applications involved in the whole supply chain. These efforts and trends are treated under the term electronic supply chain management (E-SCM). There are three major critical success factors for the successful operation of an electronic supply chain. These can be clustered into decision motivation (e.g. a shared vision and a strong motivation), implementation process (e.g. the tight integration of inter-organizational information systems and the re-engineering of inter-organizational business processes) and infrastructure conditions (e.g. agreement upon a shared industry standard). There are numerous benefits of an E-SCM implementation such as increased communication speed and decreased cost in terms of communication, inventory and customer service. Furthermore, E-SCM allows mitigating the bullwhip effect by improv-ing the availability of information throughout the entire supply chain. In addition E-SCM allows organizations to implement an entirely pull-based approach. One downside of E-SCM is the need to make a company’s entire business processes transparent, also towards supply chain partners who might be engaged with competitors. A further danger of E-SCM is to over-rely on speed rather than on flexibility.

Supply Chain Performance Measurement in Textile Enterprises by Pranav C. Charkha,Santosh B. Jaju,Prasenjit Chatterjee Pdf

This new volume provides detailed insight into supply chain management (SCM) and supply chain performance measurement (SCPM) in the textile industry. The book provides a comprehensive set of performance sub-criteria for the evaluation of SCPM, offering the information needed to understand, implement, and evaluate the supply chain performance of the textile industry and its cyclic processes. Using the Delphi method (a process used to arrive at a group opinion or decision by surveying a panel of experts), the authors studied several companies of diverse sizes and applied an analytical hierarchy process to establish crucial performance measurement criteria and sub-criteria. Around 80 textile industry personnel were contacted, including general managers, factory managers, managers, assistant managers, executives, and supervisors involved in various functions related to textile supply chains to discuss procurement, production, and distribution alternatives. The authors employed the multi-criteria decision-making technique, i.e. analytical hierarchy process, for executing pair-wise comparison and establishing priority weights of criteria, sub-criteria, and for estimating the contribution of supply chain cyclic processes to overall supply chain performance.
