Many areas of current research activity in combinatorics and its applications, including graph theory, designs and probabilistic graphs, are surveyed in lectures presented at the 12th British Combinatorial Conference.
Surveys in Combinatorics, 1995 by Peter Rowlinson Pdf
The fifteenth British Combinatorial Conference took place in July 1995 at the University of Stirling. This volume consists of the papers presented by the invited lecturers at the meeting, and provides an up-to-date survey of current research activity in several areas of combinatorics and its applications. These include distance-regular graphs, combinatorial designs, coding theory, spectra of graphs, and randomness and computation. The articles give an overview of combinatorics that will be extremely useful to both mathematicians and computer scientists.
Handbook of Combinatorial Designs by Charles J. Colbourn,Jeffrey H. Dinitz Pdf
Continuing in the bestselling, informative tradition of the first edition, the Handbook of Combinatorial Designs, Second Edition remains the only resource to contain all of the most important results and tables in the field of combinatorial design. This handbook covers the constructions, properties, and applications of designs as well as existence
Combinatorial and Graph-Theoretical Problems in Linear Algebra by Richard A. Brualdi,Shmuel Friedland,Victor Klee Pdf
This IMA Volume in Mathematics and its Applications COMBINATORIAL AND GRAPH-THEORETICAL PROBLEMS IN LINEAR ALGEBRA is based on the proceedings of a workshop that was an integral part of the 1991-92 IMA program on "Applied Linear Algebra." We are grateful to Richard Brualdi, George Cybenko, Alan George, Gene Golub, Mitchell Luskin, and Paul Van Dooren for planning and implementing the year-long program. We especially thank Richard Brualdi, Shmuel Friedland, and Victor Klee for organizing this workshop and editing the proceedings. The financial support of the National Science Foundation made the workshop possible. A vner Friedman Willard Miller, Jr. PREFACE The 1991-1992 program of the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) was Applied Linear Algebra. As part of this program, a workshop on Com binatorial and Graph-theoretical Problems in Linear Algebra was held on November 11-15, 1991. The purpose of the workshop was to bring together in an informal setting the diverse group of people who work on problems in linear algebra and matrix theory in which combinatorial or graph~theoretic analysis is a major com ponent. Many of the participants of the workshop enjoyed the hospitality of the IMA for the entire fall quarter, in which the emphasis was discrete matrix analysis.
Finite Geometry and Combinatorics by Albrecht Beutelspacher,Frank de Clerck Pdf
Included here are articles from many of the leading practitioners in the field, including, for the first time, several distinguished Russian mathematicians. Many of the papers contain important new results, and the growing use of computer algebra packages in this area is also demonstrated.
Extended Abstracts EuroComb 2021 by Jaroslav Nešetřil,Guillem Perarnau,Juanjo Rué,Oriol Serra Pdf
This book collects the extended abstracts of the accepted contributions to EuroComb21. A similar book is published at every edition of EuroComb (every two years since 2001) collecting the most recent advances in combinatorics, graph theory, and related areas. It has a wide audience in the areas, and the papers are used and referenced broadly.
Two-Dimensional Homotopy and Combinatorial Group Theory by Cynthia Hog-Angeloni,Wolfgang Metzler,Allan J. Sieradski Pdf
Basic work on two-dimensional homotopy theory dates back to K. Reidemeister and J. H. C. Whitehead. Much work in this area has been done since then, and this book considers the current state of knowledge in all the aspects of the subject. The editors start with introductory chapters on low-dimensional topology, covering both the geometric and algebraic sides of the subject, the latter including crossed modules, Reidemeister-Peiffer identities, and a concrete and modern discussion of Whitehead's algebraic classification of 2-dimensional homotopy types. Further chapters have been skilfully selected and woven together to form a coherent picture. The latest algebraic results and their applications to 3- and 4-dimensional manifolds are dealt with. The geometric nature of the subject is illustrated to the full by over 100 diagrams. Final chapters summarize and contribute to the present status of the conjectures of Zeeman, Whitehead, and Andrews-Curtis. No other book covers all these topics. Some of the material here has been used in courses, making this book valuable for anyone with an interest in two-dimensional homotopy theory, from graduate students to research workers.
