In Taking [A]part, John McCarthy and Peter Wright consider a series of boundary-pushing research projects in human-computer interaction (HCI) in which the design of digital technology is used to inquire into participative experience. McCarthy and Wright view all of these projects—which range from the public and performative to the private and interpersonal—through the critical lens of participation. Taking participation, in all its variety, as the generative and critical concept allows them to examine the projects as a part of a coherent, responsive movement, allied with other emerging movements in DIY culture and participatory art. Their investigation leads them to rethink such traditional HCI categories as designer and user, maker and developer, researcher and participant, characterizing these relationships instead as mutually responsive and dialogical. McCarthy and Wright explore four genres of participation—understanding the other, building relationships, belonging in community, and participating in publics—and they examine participatory projects that exemplify each genre. However, reading them intertextually through select creative practices reveals how both encompass an aesthetics of interruption that becomes a novel means of understanding subjectivity. EL Putnam investigates how the digital performances of certain artists, creators, and technologists rupture existing representations of the maternal, taking advantage of the formal properties of digital media. What results are interruptions of visual and aural constructions through an immanent merging of the performing body with digital technologies. Putnam bases her analysis on close examinations of the way certain makers use the formal properties of digital imagery, such as the gap, the glitch, and the lag, as means of rendering images of the maternal uncanny in order to challenge mediation, constituting an aesthetics of interruption. The State through the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia in Article 28G clearly stipulates “every person has the right on protection for his/herself, family, honor, dignity, and property of objects that under his/her power, and entitled on a sense of safe and protection from the threat of fear to do or not to do something which is a human right”. Along with the development of information through the internet, technology continues to find various applications and various variations of new technology. Technological growth is directly align to development growth and impulsively drives population movement. As the object and subject of development, the population is recognized, identified, sorted and analyzed as the development policies implemented capable to be targeted. Population data and information thus occupy a very strategic position. Through Law Number 52 of 2009 on the Population Development and Family Development, the central government and local one are given the mandate to collect, process and present data and information on population and family. These efforts can be done through censuses, surveys and family data collection. One of the developed and applied technologies is the development of Big Data technology. Big Data technology utilized to improve public services provided by the government. The development of this technology consistently utilized to build a complete and centralized database in a single identity. In its implementation, the government has opportunities and challenges to take advantage of this technology.
