The Depth of My Footprints by Ng'andu Magande Pdf

The Depth of My Footprints is about a five-year-old boy who tended cattle and watched over forlorn fields of millet in a remote and rugged area of the Zambezi Escarpment in southern Zambia and rose to become one of the most charismatic, powerful and intelligent Zambian Economist and global leader. It is difficult to appreciate the enormous leap the boy made from humble beginnings to his leadership of an international mission representing the states of a third of the globe. After steering the seventy-one-member African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States into the twenty-first century, Ng'andu was presented a medal by President Matthew Kerekou of Benin as a 'Commander of the Order of the Republic of Benin in recognition of the service rendered to the ACP-EU international community and to the negotiations for the historic twenty-year ACP-EU Cotonou Partnership Agreement'. By the beginning of the twenty-first century, Ng'andu had become a recognizable figure and voice during international assemblies, including those of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. His calm and calculated interventions and contributions on various subjects were always sought after by the conference facilitators and acknowledged warmly by the participants. During the first decade of the 21st Century, Ng'andu traversed the globe unwinding the debt web that impeded Zambia's development. As Minister of Finance and National Planning in the Zambian Government under President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa he achieved remarkable results for Zambia, whose economy attained annual growth rates of over five per cent during his tenure. Follow the footprints of Ng'andu Ciingana Cibiya Peter Magande through the twentieth century to become one of Zambia's foremost public servants and international leaders in the 21st Century.

What if she could sprint like a deer, or roar like a bear? Mimicking the footprints of each creature in the snow, she makes her way home to the arms of her moms. Together, the three of them imagine beautiful and powerful creatures who always have courage - just like Thuy.

Footprints of a Foodie by Tanya dePape Pdf

The concept of the “midlife crisis” has been the source of jokes for decades now, but for some people, the realization that they’ve entered their middle years can conjure up conflicting, often unexpected, feelings. For some, it is a time of contentment—a period of self-acceptance and a general feeling of stability—or a time where things are slowing down just enough to allow some reflection on who we are and who we want to be moving forward. For others, it can be a time of angst, reminiscent of the transition to adulthood. Regardless of how we react to the knowledge that we’re leaving our youth behind us, recognizing that this is where we are in life can be an incredible catalyst for us to make positive changes in areas of our lives that maybe aren’t quite all we’d like them to be. This food and travel memoir recounts one woman’s decision to make just such a change. Footprints is more than just a recipe book or travel guide. It is one woman's account of personal growth and self discovery as she travels through Europe and Asia as a fortysomething single woman. Regardless of your age and stage in life, It is sure to leave you both inspired and challenged to approach life with passion and courage.

Unseen Footprints by Peter G. Feenstra Pdf

As we travel down the road of experience we don't always understand why things happen the way they do. Sometimes the path is pleasant and, even though we are not sure what the day will bring, we are thankful for God's good gifts. On other occasions we are perplexed, shed tears, feel disheartened, discouraged or downcast. There are times when we have difficulty figuring out how to proceed; we feel paralyzed when calamity strikes. The road ahead would be far too difficult if we did not have the perspective of faith. The Lord takes us through the raging storm and cuts a path through the dense jungles of human experience. God's presence is not visible to the physical eye but He calls us to follow His unseen footprints. In 260 meditations, Unseen Footprints encourages the reader to listen for the sound of God's footsteps as He makes His way through history, and to follow His unseen footprints. Rev. Peter Feenstra is minister of the Grand Valley Canadian Reformed Church, Ontario. He has served this church since 2007. He also served as minister of the Owen Sound Canadian Reformed Church (October 1992-August 2007) and the Emmanuel Canadian Reformed Church at Guelph (October 1986-October 1992). He previously wrote: Submitting to One Another Out of Reverence for Christ, a series of sermons on marriage and family life. Unspeakable Comfort, a commentary on the Canons of Dort. The Glorious Work of Home Visits You Only, a popular commentary and study guide on the prophecy of Amos.

Pockets of Effectiveness and the Politics of State-building and Development in Africa by Sam Hickey Pdf

This is an open access title available under the terms of a CC BY-BC-ND 4.0 International License. It is free to read at Oxford Scholarship Online and offered as a free PDF download from OUP and selected open access locations. Why do certain parts of the state in Africa work so effectively despite operating in difficult governance contexts? How do 'pockets of bureaucratic effectiveness' emerge and become sustained over time? And what does this tell us about the prospects for state-building and development in Africa? Repeated economic and social crises have demanded that development thinkers and policy actors have had to engage with the critical role that states play in delivering development. Pockets of Effectiveness and the Politics of State-building and Development in Africa shows that politics is the driving factor that shapes how well state agencies perform their roles. It deploys a new conceptual framework – the power domains approach – to explore the shifting fortunes of key state agencies in five countries – Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia – over the past three decades. Our original research reveals when, how and why political rulers decide to build effective state agencies and enable them to deliver certain forms of economic development – often through forming strategic coalitions with senior bureaucrats and with international support – and also when this support falters and gives way to a politics of survival. Comparative analysis identifies two potential trajectories towards state-building in Africa, each shaped by different configurations of social and political power. The book critiques the role that international development agencies have played in (mis)shaping the state in Africa and suggests a new strategic agenda for building the state capacities required to deliver sustained development at the current juncture. The book closes with critical commentaries from two leading scholars in the field, to help place our work in context and establish the next steps for research and strategy in this increasingly important area of development theory and practice.
