The report finds that UK farming is in a state of crisis caused by falling commodity prices, the strength of sterling, and recent outbreaks of infectious animal diseases such as foot and mouth. The report also discusses the proposals for the Mid-Term Review of the Common Agricultural Policy, which it intends to examine in more detail in a later inquiry. A second volume of the report is also available, which contains minutes of evidence and memoranda taken before the Committee.
