The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 94: July 28, 1932 (Classic Reprint) by John A. Widtsoe Pdf

Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 94: July 28, 1932 Though I seem to have been born with a testimony yet in my early adolescence I was led to question whether that testimony was really my own or derived from my parents. I set about investigating the claims of the Church and pursued that investigation by prayer, fasting and research with all the ardour of an investigator on the outside. While such a one investigates with a view of coming into the Church if its claims be verified, I was seeking a way out of the Church if its claims Should prove to me to be unsound. After months of such inquiry I found myself in possession of an assurance beyond all question that I was in solemn fact a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. I was convinced once for all, and this knowledge isso fully an integral part of my being that without it I would not be myself. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 81: June 19, 1919 The history of the declension of the Primitive Church furnishes evidence of a painfully literal fulfilment. As with the priest so with the people - they did transgress the laws. Change the ordin ance and break the everlasting covenant embodied in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 94 by James E. Talmage Pdf

Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 94: September 8, 1932 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege; let them worship how, where, or what they many. Had any progress been made? Do you perceive advancement there in the working out of the divine purpose? This latter declaration was made by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Thus solemn affirmation was made of the inherent right of every man to worship as he will, or, by implication, to abstain from worshiping at all if he will - and can. There are substantial grounds for questioning man's ability to become wholly devoid of the impelling spirit of worship, at least ao knowledging - in love or in fear - some supreme power or Deity. The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 92: June 26, 1930 (Classic Reprint) by John A. Widtsoe Pdf

Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 92: June 26, 1930 The action of the Saints has been of the most pacific kind, remembering that God has said, Vengeance is mine I will repay. For further particulars we refer you to the statements of Messrs. Reid and Woods, and other statements in the Nauroo Neighbor which we send with this. And now, beloved brethren, we say to you all, as we say to the Saints here, be still and know that God reigns. This is one of those fiery trials that is to try the Saints of the last days. These servants of God have gone to heaven by fire, the fire of an ungodly mob. Like the prophets of ancient days, they lived as long as the world would receive them and this is one furnace in which the Saints are to be tried: To have their leaders cut off from their midst, and not be permitted to avenge their blood. God has said vengeance is mine; I have not called mine elders to fight their battles; I will fight their battles for them; and we know assuredly that He will do it in His own due time, and we have only to wait in patience and prayer the fulfilment of promise. This event is one of the most foul and damnable that ever disgraced the earth - having no parallel in time. Innocent men imprisoned without law, without justice, and murdered in cold blood in the enlightened nineteenth century, in an enlightened country, in the open daylight! It will call down the wrath and indignation of all nations upon the perpetrators of the horrid deed, and will prove the truth of the saying, the blood of martyrs is the seed of the Church. They died for the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 92 by Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Ss Pdf

Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 92: April 3, 1930 It is the Church of Christ, restored after centuries of apostasy, in fulfillment of the Lord's plan for human salvation. The doctrine of the Church is the Gospel as taught, in its full ness, by the Lord Jesus Christ, with nothing added, nothing taken away; its organization is patterned after the primitive Church; its ordinances, those divinely required to enter the Kingdom of God; its authority, that of the everlasting, holy Priesthood. The purpose of the Church is to bring the light of truth to humanity; its message, one of love and good will among all mankind; its promise, the life-giving gifts of the Gospel; its eager striving, to help all who are in distress of body or soul.
