Paradise of God by Dr. Larry Ollison Pdf

Most people have a skewed vision of what heaven is or what heaven was or will be like. They tend to picture angels floating around, some having harps and some having bows and arrows but none of them actually having a life. To many people, heaven sounds like a boring place and there is little desire to go there although it's much better than...

The Paradise of God by Norman Wirzba Pdf

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Gen. 1:26) It has become a commonplace that Biblical religion bears a heavy share of responsibility for our destruction of the environment, and this passage from the King James version of the Bible exemplifies what is generally believed to be the Biblical attitude toward the earth. In this provocative book, however, Norman Wirzba argues that the doctrine of creation, when understood as a statement about the moral and spiritual meaning of the world, actually holds the key to a true understanding of our place in the environment and our responsibility toward it. Wirzba contends that an adequate response to environmental destruction depends on a new formulation of ourselves as part of a created whole, rather than as autonomous, unencumbered individuals. Drawing on the work of biblical scholars, ecologists, agrarians, philosophers, theologians, and cultural critics, Wirzba develops a comprehensive worldview that grows out of the idea that the world is Gods creation. While the text of Genesis has historically encouraged a vision of persons as masters of creation, a more theologically and ecologically sensitive rendering, he says, would be to say that we are servants of creation. Our present culture, Wirzba believes, results from a denial of creation that has caused modern problems as diverse as rootlessness, individualism, careerism, boredom, and consumerism. The recovery of the meaning of creation can lead to a renewed sense of human identity and vocation, and happier, more peaceful lives. He concludes by offering practical advice for individuals who wish to begin the work of transformation and renewal. Moving beyond the usual political debates, The Paradise of God presents a compelling vision of a new religious environmentalism.

Unlocking the Mysteries of the Holy Spirit by Dr. Larry Ollison Pdf

The world is full of mysteries. Many are intrigued by earth's mysteries — UFO's, the lost city of Atlantis, the pyramids, the Nebula of Orion, etc. God knows the answer to every mystery. However, as interesting and captivating as these mysteries are, they pale in comparison to the revelation of the deep secrets of God. The Holy Spirit may seem a mystery to some people, but God’s desire is for His believers to know and understand the deep things of the Spirit. "God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God" (1 Corinthians 2:10). Because of fear or tradition, many have chosen to ignore teachings concerning the Holy Spirit. In this book, Dr. Larry Ollison sets aside religious political-correctness and digs deep into the mysteries of the Holy Spirit. Remember the final words of Jesus as He ascended into heaven from earth: "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you" (Acts 1:8).

Desires in Paradise by Adam Trettel Pdf

For Augustine, the pre-Fall Paradise was a life of tranquil love and joy. The post-Fall world is marked by loss of control over our bodies and emotions. But whatexactly happened in the Fall, and why? How does desire relate to man's disobedience, and is there any sense in which we can recover what Adam and Eve havelost? In treating City 14 as an integral whole, this study explores Augustine's critiquesof the Manichean and Platonist positions that the body is bad or evil, and discusseshis biblical doctrine of emotions in light of the two-cities theme. The entirestudy concerns topics germane to the paradisal situation: the theme of the PrimalFall and the will being 'spontaneous', the exploration of the disobedience ofthe genitals in all forms of sex, including married life, and the workings of Adamand Eve's hypothetical sexual experience in the pre-Fall world.
