New Educational Technology by Riko Kobayashi Pdf
Educational technology is a creative blending of 'idea' and 'product' technologies with subject-matter content in order to engender and improve teaching and learning processes. Educational technology is often associated with the terms instructional technology or learning technology. 'Product' technologies are tangible; for example, computer hardware or software. 'Idea' technologies are cognitive frameworks or schemes; for example, the Multiple Intelligence Theory proposed by Howard Gardner. When products are thoughtfully blended with subject matter content (such as mathematics or science concepts) for a specific audience in a specific educational context (such as a school), one is using 'educational technology'. The words educational and technology in the term educational technology have the general meaning. Educational technology is not restricted to the education of children, nor to the use of high technology.

Understanding and Creating Digital Texts by Richard Beach,Chris M. Anson,Lee-Ann Kastman Breuch,Thomas Reynolds Pdf
Given the increased use of digital reading and writing tools in the classroom, this book provides secondary and college English language arts teachers with activities and classroom examples for using a range of different digital tools—blogs, wikis, websites, annotations, Twitter, mapping, forum discussions, etc.—to engage students in understanding and creating digital texts. It therefore integrates reading and writing instruction through goal-driven activities supported by uses and affordances of digital tools. This book also provides a framework for designing these activities that encourage students to define purpose and audience, make connections between digital texts and people, collaborate with others, employ alternative modes of communication and gain new perspectives, and constructing identities; practices that are linked to addressing the high school English Language Arts Common Core State Standards. The book also describes ways to use digital tools to support these practices—for example, using digital tools to foster students’ collaborative reading and writing. The book also describes use of digital feedback and e-portfolio tools to foster students’ reflection on their uses of these practices.

Within Reach by Hoaihuong Nguyen,Jeanne Sesky Pdf
Within Reach is a text for anyone interested in improving instructional practices with their students, and in expanding those practices from classroom to classroom. The multifaceted sections of the text broaden the audiences: teacher leaders, administrators, practicing teachers, and teacher/administrator preparation programs in higher education. The content from Within Reach can be used to build systems and practices to increase instructional effectiveness to address diverse students’ learning needs. The text offers research?based, effective, instructional practices and how they relate to diverse learners and Common Core, as well as to understand how to employ teacher leaders to network such practices. Within Reach is an excellent match for district and federal funding because it focuses on professional development to bridge the achievement gap, instructional accountability measures, and making connections to the Common Core. Districts can access funding through Title 1, Common Core funding initiatives, and federal grants. It can also be adopted in higher education teacher and administrator preparation programs. For example, in teacher preparation programs, Within Reach covers topics such as Teaching Multiculturalism Education, Teaching Students with Mild to Moderate Disabilities, Teaching English Language Learners, and Language Acquisition and Development Certification Courses, and Teacher Leadership.
