The Theory of Evolution in the Light of Facts by Karl Frank, S.J. Pdf

Originally published in 1913, The Theory of Evolution in the Light of Facts examines the theory of Descent; the book is a time capsule of information, providing a record of the explorations into Darwinian theory during the first half of the 20th century. The book examines the contradictions which arose between technical work of the period and the assumptions surrounding the theory of evolution. The book aims to address that which is considered ‘certain’ or ‘probable’ from postulation in order to explain and clearly define the theory of evolution. It does this through hypothesising on the development of animals and plants using the systems of Darwin and Lamarck. This book will be of interest to anthropologists and historians of natural science alike.

The Theory of Evolution in the Light of Facts by Karl Frank Pdf

Excerpt from The Theory of Evolution in the Light of Facts The object of the present work is to throw some light on the theory of Descent. Among many of the students of nature of the present day we perceive that greater and greater contradictions arise between the actual results of their technical work and that which they put forward as 'postulates' of the theory of Evolution. Our object is to deal with this. The 'certain' or the 'probable' should be separated from the pure 'postulates' and the actual area of elucidation of the hypotheses of Evolution be thereby clearly defined. The chief postulate, the origin and development of the animals from the plants, is dealt with fully. If the area of elucidation he exactly defined, then, and then only, can it be a question of a truly scientific attempt at explanation. The best known systems, those of Darwin and of Lamarck, are tested by their premisses and method; but only their specific doctrines are taken into consideration. In the formation of a reliable hypothesis it was less important to present a complete collection of all observations than to show clearly, by separate examples, the demonstrative force and extent of the argument concerned. In the Light of Evolution by National Academy of Sciences Pdf

The Arthur M. Sackler Colloquia of the National Academy of Sciences address scientific topics of broad and current interest, cutting across the boundaries of traditional disciplines. Each year, four or five such colloquia are scheduled, typically two days in length and international in scope. Colloquia are organized by a member of the Academy, often with the assistance of an organizing committee, and feature presentations by leading scientists in the field and discussions with a hundred or more researchers with an interest in the topic. Colloquia presentations are recorded and posted on the National Academy of Sciences Sackler colloquia website and published on CD-ROM. These Colloquia are made possible by a generous gift from Mrs. Jill Sackler, in memory of her husband, Arthur M. Sackler.

Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution Overthrown by Dr. Nyonbeor A. Boley Sr. Pdf

Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution Overthrown By: Dr. Nyonbeor A. Boley Sr. The first criterion for accepting a theory as being scientific is that the theory must never contradict empirical facts. Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution Overthrown was written to prove that Darwin’s “theory of evolution” is not, in fact, a scientific theory at all. Absolutely essential to all science is the agreement between theory and experimental facts. The opinion that man evolved from molecules contradicts archeological evidence on the origin of the human race. Discover for yourself what problems – even problems in today’s society – can be traced back to the promotion of Darwin’s “theory.”

Concepts of Biology by Samantha Fowler,Rebecca Roush,James Wise Pdf

Concepts of Biology is designed for the single-semester introduction to biology course for non-science majors, which for many students is their only college-level science course. As such, this course represents an important opportunity for students to develop the necessary knowledge, tools, and skills to make informed decisions as they continue with their lives. Rather than being mired down with facts and vocabulary, the typical non-science major student needs information presented in a way that is easy to read and understand. Even more importantly, the content should be meaningful. Students do much better when they understand why biology is relevant to their everyday lives. For these reasons, Concepts of Biology is grounded on an evolutionary basis and includes exciting features that highlight careers in the biological sciences and everyday applications of the concepts at hand.We also strive to show the interconnectedness of topics within this extremely broad discipline. In order to meet the needs of today's instructors and students, we maintain the overall organization and coverage found in most syllabi for this course. A strength of Concepts of Biology is that instructors can customize the book, adapting it to the approach that works best in their classroom. Concepts of Biology also includes an innovative art program that incorporates critical thinking and clicker questions to help students understand--and apply--key concepts.

The Assumptions Behind the Theory of Evolution by Dave Schoch Pdf

The theory of evolution is based solidly upon certain assumptions. This would not be a problem if it wasn't for the fact that most of these assumptions are not warranted by the facts of nature, and therefore have not (and can not ever) be codified as facts of nature. Today these unwarranted, and therefore illegitimate assumptions, have found their way into populating not only our textbooks, but also mainstream America, as confirmed facts of nature, when they are not. This book exposes numerous unwarranted and illegitimate evolutionary assumptions pushed upon the unsuspecting public as codified facts of science when they are not codified facts of nature. According to Dr. Jerry Bergman, this is an "excellent book...it promises to be a very important book in this area (referring to the creation/evolution controversy."

"In China we can criticize Darwin, but not the government. In America, you can criticize the government, but not Darwin." - Jun-Yuan Chen (Paleontologist) In this groundbreaking book, John Morrison examines the theory of evolution currently being taught in high schools and colleges across the world. This planet was once nothing but liquid and gas but somehow, over billions of years, the countless number of living organisms currently on earth came into existence. This includes humans descending from apes. Once the currently taught theory is understood, John then proceeds to explain what the textbooks don't teach which puts the theory of evolution in a new light. Once you're done reading Evolution's Final Days, you'll realize that the theory of evolution could never have happened in the way scientists proclaim, and the many reasons why new theories are not currently being taught. You'll understand why we need to stand up as a community, and fight for science to be taught as it was intended. And you'll come to know why the theory of evolution is truly in its final days! Why Darwin Matters by Michael Shermer Pdf

A creationist-turned-scientist demonstrates the facts of evolution and exposes Intelligent Design's real agenda Science is on the defensive. Half of Americans reject the theory of evolution and "Intelligent Design" campaigns are gaining ground. Classroom by classroom, creationism is overthrowing biology. In Why Darwin Matters, bestselling author Michael Shermer explains how the newest brand of creationism appeals to our predisposition to look for a designer behind life's complexity. Shermer decodes the scientific evidence to show that evolution is not "just a theory" and illustrates how it achieves the design of life through the bottom-up process of natural selection. Shermer, once an evangelical Christian and a creationist, argues that Intelligent Design proponents are invoking a combination of bad science, political antipathy, and flawed theology. He refutes their pseudoscientific arguments and then demonstrates why conservatives and people of faith can and should embrace evolution. He then appraises the evolutionary questions that truly need to be settled, building a powerful argument for science itself. Cutting the politics away from the facts, Why Darwin Matters is an incisive examination of what is at stake in the debate over evolution.
