The Documentary Film Book by Brian Winston Pdf

Powerfully posing questions of ethics, ideology, authorship and form, documentary film has never been more popular than it is today. Edited by one of the leading British authorities in the field, The Documentary Film Book is an essential guide to current thinking on documentary film. In a series of fascinating essays, key international experts discuss the theory of documentary, outline current understandings of its history (from pre-Flaherty to the post-Griersonian world of digital 'i-Docs'), survey documentary production (from Africa to Europe, and from the Americas to Asia), consider documentaries by marginalised minority communities, and assess its contribution to other disciplines and arts. Brought together here in one volume, these scholars offer compelling evidence as to why, over the last few decades, documentary has come to the centre of screen studies.

Information Security Risk Analysis, Second Edition by Thomas R. Peltier Pdf

The risk management process supports executive decision-making, allowing managers and owners to perform their fiduciary responsibility of protecting the assets of their enterprises. This crucial process should not be a long, drawn-out affair. To be effective, it must be done quickly and efficiently. Information Security Risk Analysis, Second Edition enables CIOs, CSOs, and MIS managers to understand when, why, and how risk assessments and analyses can be conducted effectively. This book discusses the principle of risk management and its three key elements: risk analysis, risk assessment, and vulnerability assessment. It examines the differences between quantitative and qualitative risk assessment, and details how various types of qualitative risk assessment can be applied to the assessment process. The text offers a thorough discussion of recent changes to FRAAP and the need to develop a pre-screening method for risk assessment and business impact analysis.

Networked Collaborative Learning by Guglielmo Trentin Pdf

The sustainability of Networked Collaborative Learning (NCL) is a key topic of discussion amongst the institutions where it has been or may potentially be introduced. In order to determine the extent of NCL's sustainability, the added value university education may yield by adopting collaborative learning strategies must be quantified. In turn, an understanding of the implications NCL produces in terms of design and management is gained. After comparing NCL with other Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) approaches and discussing the possible reasons for adopting it, a multidimensional model for the sustainability of NCL is proposed. The model is characterized by four dimensions: pedagogical approaches, e-teacher professional development, instructional design models and valuation/assessment approaches. Each of these dimensions is examined on the basis of the author’s direct experience gained through applying NCL to his university teaching. Delineates a framework for NCL sustainability Provides an instructional design model for NC Describes an original approach to the evaluation of collaborative learning processes

The Evolution of American Educational Technology by Paul Saettler Pdf

The primary purpose of this book is to trace the theoretical methodological foundations of American educational technology. It must be emphasized that this work is essentially as history of the process of educational technology rather than of products in the form of devices or media. Although media have played an important rode in educational technology, the reader should not lose sight of the central process which characterizes and underlies the true historical meaning and function of educational technology. Moreover, the assumption is made that all current theory, methodology, and practice rests upon the heritage of the past. Indeed, a common problem in the field has been the failure, in many instances, to take adequate account of past history in planning for the present or the future. A related purpose of this book is to provide a selective survey of research in educational technology as it relates to the American public schools. Such research reviews are not intended to be comprehensive, but were included because of their historical importance and their relevance in understanding the process of educational technology.

Kata Legrady by Kata Legrady Pdf

The first monograph on Kata Legrady's works presenting a collection of drawings, photographs, sculptures, and video installations. Kata Legrady belongs to that long and bountiful line of artists for whom an object offers the stimulus for artistic thought and action. Her work takes the form of a symbolic encounter between two distinct universes: on the one side, weapons of war, and on the other, confectionary. In other words, there is a short-circuit between the lethal and the inoffensive; a tension between childhood and destruction, between carefree and suffering. The use of Smarties--those famous multicolored 'pills'--cannot but evoke the "colored dots" used by Roy Lichtenstein to create his enlarged and framed comic strip images. With the difference, however, that these Smarties are not used to create images but to decorate weapons, covering them systematically, although this is not enough to make them unusable or unrecognizable. In the hands of the artist, machine guns, grenades and knives become strange and colorful, almost beautiful and appealing. There are also bombs of various formats and size, varying from a few centimeters to several meters. This time, they are not recovered objects, however, but sculptures of essential form covered in metallic industrial paint.

Philippe Pasqua by Philippe Pasqua Pdf

Self-taught, Philippe Pasqua (Grasse, 1965) is involved in the current renewal of figurative art. Through his monumental canvases, large in format and loaded with paint, he depicts the human figure with the frankness of realism and the intensity of expressionism, exposing the body in all its states, showing the palpitating flesh to draw out its fascinating beauty. He works with series of portraits around particular themes: anaesthetized patients during surgical operations on sexual organs, children with Down syndrome, infants, impudent adolescents, portraits of transgender figures, and so on. He makes wide use of photography, using its effects (close-up, tilt-up) to fix his models. Philippe Pasque began exhibiting in Paris in the 1990s. Since then, his works have also been on show in galleries in the United States, Hong Kong, Mexico, London, Hamburg, etc.
