Making Your Leadership Come Alive by Jeremie Kubicek Pdf

LEADERSHIP IS ALIVE WHEN IT IS USED FOR OTHERS. IT DIES WHEN IT IS ALL ABOUT YOU Anyone can make an impact through influence. It is the most potent professional asset on the planet. The problem is that influence is also the most underused asset on the planet. And the primary reason is that the enemy of influence is a universal human trait: self-preservation. If leaders are too concerned with protecting their status and reputation, they limit their opportunity to forge open and honest ties with others. Making Your Leadership Come Alive shows how leaders who are genuine-who give themselves away-have the greatest influence and are the most successful in their work. Truly, the more you give, the more you receive. With confidence and trust in company leadership at an all-time low, Jeremie Kubicek's tested-and-proven concepts will show readers how to restore faith through the importance of relationships-and how to avoid the self-defeating and selfish approach commonly used by the leaders of today.

Mary's Voice in the Gospel According to John by Michael Pakaluk Pdf

A New Light on John’s Gospel The Gospel according to John has always been recognized as different from the “synoptic” accounts of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. But what explains the difference? In this new translation and verse-byverse commentary, Michael Pakaluk suggests an answer and unlocks a twothousand-year-old mystery. Mary’s Voice in the Gospel according to John reveals the subtle but powerful influence of the Mother of Jesus on the fourth Gospel. In his dying words, Jesus committed his Mother to the care of John, the beloved disciple, who “from that hour . . . took her into his own home.” Pakaluk draws out the implications of that detail, which have been overlooked for centuries. In Mary’s remaining years on earth, what would she and John have talked about? Surely no subject was as close to their hearts as the words and deeds of Jesus. Mary’s unique perspective and intimate knowledge of her Son must have shaped the account of Jesus’ life that John would eventually compose. With the same scholarship, imagination, and fidelity that he applied to Mark’s Gospel in The Memoirs of St. Peter, Pakaluk brings out the voice of Mary in John’s, from the famous prologue about the Incarnation of the Word to the Evangelist’s closing avowal of the reliability of his account. This remarkably fresh translation and commentary will deepen your understanding of the most sublime book of the New Testament.

Live Dead by John Brackett Pdf

The Grateful Dead were one of the most successful live acts of the rock era. Performing more than 2,300 shows between 1965 and 1995, the Grateful Dead’s reputation as a “live band” was—and continues to be—sustained by thousands of live concert recordings from every era of the group’s long and colorful career. In Live Dead, musicologist John Brackett examines how live recordings—from the group’s official releases to fan-produced tapes, bootlegs to “Betty Boards,” and Dick’s Picks to From the Vault—have shaped the general history and popular mythology of the Grateful Dead for more than fifty years. Drawing on a diverse array of materials and documents contained in the Grateful Dead Archive, Live Dead details how live recordings became meaningful among the band and their fans not only as sonic souvenirs of past musical performances but also as expressions of assorted ideals, including notions of “liveness,” authenticity, and the power of recorded sound.

Virtue Ethics and Moral Knowledge by R. Scott Smith Pdf

We live in a time of moral confusion: many believe there are no overarching moral norms, and we have lost an accepted body of moral knowledge. Alasdair MacIntyre addresses this problem in his much-heralded restatement of Aristotelian and Thomistic virtue ethics; Stanley Hauerwas does so through his highly influential work in Christian ethics. Both recast virtue ethics in light of their interpretations of the later Wittgenstein's views of language. This book systematically assesses the underlying presuppositions of MacIntyre and Hauerwas, finding that their attempts to secure moral knowledge and restate virtue ethics, both philosophical and theological, fail. Scott Smith proposes alternative indications as to how we can secure moral knowledge, and how we should proceed in virtue ethics.

A Commentary on the Revelation of Jesus Christ with Old Testament Allusions by Bob Cunningham Pdf

Many people struggle with the book of Revelation because it is filled with strange symbols, numbers and bizarre images of beasts and visions. A blessing is promised (Rev 1:3) to all who read it but it cannot be received if one is intimidated by engaging the book. The key to understanding it lies in the context in which it was written which is the Old Testament. This book attempts to open up the reader to greater understanding of the book by giving the Old Testament references that John's readers would have been familiar with for the passages the Holy Spirit inspired John to write. .

Episodes In Visions by Zebron Ncube, D. Min. Pdf

In his book, Dr. Zebron Ncube argues that in spite of socio-political chaos and pessimistic and secular thinking that dominate human society, the Book of Revelation tells us that God is still in control. This is the prism through which the Book of Revelation should be read. In Episodes in Visions each episode has its own full Bible text, key thought, major objective, overview, and discussion with practical implications. The preacher will find this book to be a tremendous resource for a preaching series. Individuals and study groups will benefit from the easy-to-use outlines of the book. The book is written from a preacher’s perspective to give hope to a cringing spirit because the foundations of human society are crumbling. God is in control. Dr. Zebron Ncube explains the mysteries of symbols and numbers to connect the contemporary mind with John and his first-century audience. No other book has so much relevance to the contemporary church and world as does the Book of Revelation that Dr. Ncube writes about.

Elektra by R. Reid Pdf

This critical edition of Ezra Pound's Elektra marks the most significant appearance in twenty years of a "new" work by the controversial poet. Composed in the early months of 1949, while Pound was under indictment for treason and hospitalized by court order in Washington, D.C., this hitherto unpublished version of Sophocles' play documents a critical stage in the poet's writing career: with his subsequent rendition of Sophocles' Trachiniae and his ongoing translations from the Chinese classics, it signaled his return to sustained composition and his eventual decision to resume his life work, the Cantos. The success of Carey Perloff's Classic Stage Company debut of Pound's play in 1987 has already demonstrated the interest of the theatrical community in the work, and this presentation of the text, with critical apparatus, is a major event in Pound studies. The edition serves as a kind of practical workshop in translation, particularly in its exposition of Pound's discussions with his collaborator, Rudd Fleming. Richard Reid demonstrates in his introduction that Pound's choice of the Elektra was of crucial significance. In the play Sophocles confronts many of our most deeply held cultural assumptions: those concerning the family, the community, the claims of religion and justice, and language itself. As anyone familiar with the works of Pound will readily recognize, these issues are central in his own writings. The Elektra clarifies the formal, thematic, and psychological dilemmas seen in his work following the achievements recorded in the Pisan Cantos. This play and Pound's version of the Trachiniae can lead to a reassessment of his entire oeuvre in the context of this century's history. It will be essential reading for admirers of Pound's poetry, for students of the art of translation, and for directors and actors interested in performing the drama of ancient Athens on the modern stage.
