Depuis plusieurs années, des recherches en sciences de l'éducation visent à analyser les pratiques éducatives des intervenants, professionnels ou non, oeuvrant en contexte scolaire et non scolaire auprès de différentes populations jeunes et adultes. Si la réussite scolaire pour tous semble aujourd'hui la pierre angulaire et la figure emblématique des systèmes éducatifs contemporains, il importe de comprendre de quelles manières l'enseignant pense, conçoit et met en oeuvre son acte d'enseignement et quelle place il accorde aux différents savoirs qu'il a pour mandat de transmettre aux élèves. C'est le projet des différentes contributions présentées dans cet ouvrage, qui pose ainsi deux questions : l'identification du sens et de la nature de l'intervention éducative en contexte scolaire. Des réponses à ces deux questions dépend sans doute l'ambition de réussir l'École mais aussi le prodigieux défi de la démocratisation de la réussite scolaire.
