Expectation Hangover by Christine Hassler Pdf

When our expectations are met and things go according to plan, we feel a sense of accomplishment; we feel safe, in control, and on track. But when life does not live up to our expectations, we end up with an Expectation Hangover. This particular brand of disappointment is profoundly uncomfortable and can cost us valuable time and energy if not treated and leveraged effectively. Christine Hassler has broken down the complex and overwhelming experience of recovering from disappointment into a step-by-step treatment plan. This book reveals the formula for how to process Expectation Hangovers on the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual levels to immediately ease suffering. Instead of wallowing in regret, self-recrimination, or anger, we can see these experiences as catalysts for profound transformation and doorways that open to possibility. Often it is only when life throws us a curveball (or several) that we look in a different direction and make room for the kinds of unexpected things that lead more directly to a life we love. By the time you finish this book, you’ll understand why your Expectation Hangover happened and have your own treatment plan — a clear course of action to pursue your goals while preventing future disappointment.

The Ragged Edge of Silence by John Francis, Ph.D. Pdf

By the author of Planetwalker, The Ragged Edge of Silence takes us to another level of appreciating, through silence, the beauty of the planet and our place in it. John Francis's real and compelling prose forms a tapestry of questions and answers woven from interviews, stories, personal experience, science, and the power of silence through history, including practice by Native American, Hindu, and Buddhist cultures. Through their time-honored traditions and his own experience of communicating silently for 17 years, Francis's practical exercises lay the groundwork for the reader to build constructive silence into everyday life: to learn more about oneself, to set goals and accomplish dreams, to build strong relationships, and to appreciate and be a steward of the Earth. With its amazing human interest element and first-person expertise, this book is energizing and universally instructive.

Out of Control by Rodney Hunt Pdf

The truth is, weve all experienced the brokenness of this world: broken dreams, hopes, and expectations. You lose your job. An unexpected circumstance catches you by surprise. Someone you love dies. A relationship fails. You do something you regret. What I want to remind you is that, regardless of your situation, you can find hope in an out of control world. There is hope because God is picking up the pieces of our lives to make us whole again. There is hope because he has a plan. While we will experience pain and loss, God will restore our joy and restore that which has been lost. That promise is repeated over and over many times in the Scriptures. God will restore. He will pay back. What was lost will be found again. In fact, we will receive much more back than what we lost. There is a better future than what you are seeing and experiencing right now. You need to know that in a world where so much seems set against you, God is in control, and he is on your side. God is not your enemy. He is your advocate and defender. He wants what is best for you. He wants to give you a future and a hope.

Journey To New Beginnings by Debbie Ziemann Pdf

The year following my diagnosis of breast cancer, having a total mastectomy and chemotherapy, I felt as if I was out at sea in the midst of a storm. The faster I ran from the darkness and turmoil the closer it came. I was frightened but I learned to depend on the energy of the Universe. I realized that the quickest way to the light was to go directly into the darkness and face my fears. Accepting my new body image was very difficult, along with not being able to respond to my husband touch. Due to my insecurities, low self-esteem and self-confidence I placed my marriage in jeporady. Learning to rediscover myself was difficult.I learned to trust in the positive energy of the Universe to help me heal. Depending on myself only led me further away from where I wanted to go. I needed to allow God and His angels to take me in their hands and carry me. Depending on the power of the Universe established inner strength and courage to be a survivor. We have a choice in how we react and respond to situations, lessons that life presents to us. Learning to let go of certain feeling and situations is difficult but it makes each day more peaceful and comfortable. Learning there is life after breast cancer is a difficult journey. Everything happens for a reason and it is up to us to learn from the lessons which are presented to us. You can be a survivor when you accept that being a survivor is a state of mind which is dictated by you and not others. Realizing that guilt and shame is wasted energy, and that you are still loved and can love others. Everyone's path in recover and rediscovery will be different and the rate in which we achieve it will be different. What worked for me may not work for you. We cannot compare oursleves to others. We are individuals with different childhood experiences, different backgrounds, personalities and with different suppport systems. I hope that "Journey to New Beginnings" gives you a sense of comfort and hope. Sharing my journey has helped me heal. Each year will be another path of learning, experiencing the joys of living and life - enjoying the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Finding Peace of Mind and Keeping It by James Emerson Hough Pdf

About the Book In this collection of his essays and writings, James Emerson Hough reflects on the serenity of retirement living in the middle of his own private Certified Forest Preserve and Wildlife Habitat in Southeast Indiana, the inspiration it engenders to be creative, and the ability to focus his thinking. He finds it rewarding to share his perspective, but the selfish reason he writes is that it makes him a better person. When asked why he writes, Mr. Hough admits that writing helps keep his mind alert and head on straight. He’s inspired to read and unlock novel ideas in his mind, research them, and develop compelling techniques to put them together in writing. Writing is his habit. He knows that no one can write anything who does not think that what they write is for the time history, or do anything well who does not esteem their work to be of importance. Old age has yet to creep on the author’s mind, and wisdom will never let him stand with another on unfriendly footing. For him to write what will not become obsolete is to write sincerely to himself while attempting to satisfy his own curiosity. Where Mr. Hough found peace of mind, peace of mind was waiting there. Books are the quietest and most constant of friends, the most patient of teachers, and the most accessible and wisest if counselors. Worthwhile books that get into the world are written by successful people who utter what tens of millions feel though they cannot say. Certain books are vital, not leaving readers what they were; they shut the book a richer person. Finding Peace of Mind and Keeping It is full of energy. About the Author James Emerson Hough was born and raised in Paducah, Kentucky; schooled in the public school system of that community; earned an AS degree studying mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological and zoological sciences at Paducah Junior College; and earned BS (Geology) and MS (Engineering Geology) degrees at the University of Kentucky, Lexington. He retired December 31, 1998, at age 68, ending more than thirty-five years in private practice of the applied earth sciences as licensed professional engineer and licensed professional geologist. Hough was awarded the DSc degree by the American Institute of Geosciences in 2020.

The Search for Peace by D. W. Bowett Pdf

Using authoritative extracts from the relevant and important sources at the time, this volume, originally published in 1972, deals with the problems and difficulties of maintaining peace in the world. The control of the use of force remains the most intractable, and yet the most important, problem in international relations. Although the antagonists change, antagonism appears to be almost an inherent feature of inter-state relations and although global conflict has been avoided for the past quarter of a century, the risk is always present. The cost of such anarchy in international relations, measured in terms of human suffering and wastage of resources, is appalling. In this book, Dr Bowett looks at the need for peaceful settlement of international disputes, the peacekeeping role of the United Nations, aid to developing countries and disarmament, and suggests that the structure of international society based on the Sovereign State could be modified to lessen the risk of conflict. The extracts include statements by Khrushchev, Mao Tse-Tung, Che Guevara, Dag Hammarskjöld, U Thant, Ho Chi-Minh, and selections from many national and international documents.
