Excerpt from The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 4: September 15, 1899 Toil on with pure, unselfish aim, In patience till thy task is done; Care not for either praise or blame, Enough the victory won. All noble deeds, designed to bless, Are valued not by sordid price; Things born of struggle, storm and stress, Bring fullest sacrifice. All truth is meant to meet some need, And light the upward path of man, Who but for that were weak indeed, With all his power to plan. Fear not; thy sacrifice shall be A greater and a nobler gain; The cloud that hides the sun from thee Will bring thee needful rain. Shafts. Excerpt from The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 8: April, 1903 They further state that local traditions have existed for centuries which tend to corroborate this alleged discovery, for they are to the effect that an lsraelitish Prophet came there 1900 years ago, having fled from Syria because his countrymen sought to slay him, that his name was Isa Sahib, and that he was also called shahzada-nabi (prince-prophet). The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 7: February, 1902 (Classic Reprint) by Sidney H. Beard Pdf

Excerpt from The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 7: February, 1902 We need not condemn ourselves too harshly because we have failed, as yet, to attain our individual ideals. We know only too well how we have yearned and striven after high achievement, and how in the silence we have mourned defeat. And God knows it too! And being conscious that we want to be other than we are, we feel, intuitively, that in the eyes of the Omniscient Father there is no look of condemnation; the inner voice speaks to us of changeless Faith, Hope, and Love - ln us, and for us, and toward us. And this sustains our courage and saves us from giving up in despair. Nor may we condemn others. For we know not the weight of the physical burden which they have inherited, nor the force of adverse circumstance against which they have to fight. Freely we have received; and freely must we give to them, the very same Faith and Hope and Love which have been our own salvation hitherto. In such ministry as this there is a magic power that the world does not yet apprehend, but which men will some day understand. 'it will transform the weak and make them strong, it will refresh as with gentle rain the barren heart and cause it to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit and the flowers of paradise. No electric battery has such potency as an union of spiritual men and women who are banded together to uplift and encourage some weak brother or sister, by their faith, sympathy, and hopeful confidence. The vibrations created by such a battery of human hearts will awaken responsive faith and renewed effort, and make possible that resolute and hopeful mental attitude which precedes victory and upon which victory depends. By divine optimism such as this, are great ideals conceived, and by the same magic alchemy they can be trans muted into actual realities and accomplished facts. The psychic laws of mental suggestion can thus be utilized for the transformation of mankind - telepathy affording the medium of communication, and faith supplying the requisite motive power. Let us by all means have an union of all who love, on behalf of all who suffer. But let us also have an union of all who believe in the great possibilities that lie involved in human nature and in the glorious future that awaits us and the world in which we live. The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 12 by Sidney H. Beard Pdf

Excerpt from The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 12: October, 1908 For we have now reached such a condition of affairs that the majority of the young men who offer themselves for military service in some of our large cities, are rejected as being unfit. A very large percentage of the children in our schools are either physically or mentally malformed, or in some way enfeebled and deficient; while impaired eyesight, flat-feet, weak hearts, spinal curvature and soft teeth are becoming so general as to be regarded almost as normal amongst the youth of our country. The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 8 by Sidney H. Beard Pdf

Excerpt from The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 8: The Official Journal of the Order of the Golden Age; August, 1903 Total abstinence from foods laden with uric acid, with sufficient exercise each day to get up a good sweat, is a sure way of keeping this disease at bay. Who ever heard of a hard-working man, who was moderate in the use of simple foods, having gout? Labouring men who subsist largely upon esh food (which always contains uric acid) are able by vigorous outdoor exercise to eliminate a large share of this excess of uric acid taken in the food, and thus ward off the disease for a long time but the extra burden thrown upon the kidneys in its elimination, finally results in disease or the complete wearing out of these organs, thus shortening life. The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 7: March, 1902 (Classic Reprint) by Sidney H. Beard Pdf

Excerpt from The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 7: March, 1902 Be ye merciful as your Father which is in heaven is merciful? Can we fancy the Divine, or even a saint, persisting in pleasing his palate at the cost of suffering, of such awful torture, to others, such awful demoralisation to human beings, as is implied by the existence of slaughter houses, especially in America and England. Is there no sin in injuring the temples of the Holy Ghost as St. Paul calls our outside coverings?. We are responsible to our Maker for our body as well as for our soul. Have we any right to mar His property, to make our own husks diseased and unclean, so that the ego cannot rise and do its daily work there as He would have it done? Overwhelming evidence shows that through eating dead bodies we do this. Is there no sin for immortal spirits, raised through the incarnation to a more than angelic union with the Divine, if we will have it so, to build up such a coarse opaque covering round the ego that it is quite impossible to see the things of the spirit through it? Excerpt from The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 14: October, 1911 We have passed through the age of physical force on to the age of intellectual supremacy, and are now entering a new and almost unknown power - that of psychic power. This field of energy has its established laws, as well as have the others, and we should acquaint ourselves with them, or we will be crowded to the wall as are the ignorant on the planes of effort. The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 8: February, 1903 (Classic Reprint) by Sidney H. Beard Pdf

Excerpt from The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 8: February, 1903 Upon my desk, as I write these words, are many printed reports and press cuttings, the contents of which would warrant this gloomy conviction. I read that in Christian England, during the past twelve years, Our National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children has had brought to its notice cases of barbarity and ill-treatment of the defenceless young. No sub-human race has fallen so low as to necessitate the existence of any such organization for its restraint from such unnatural deeds as these. I read that negroes are frequently being burned at the stake in America, and that special trains bring large crowds of people to witness and enjoy the appalling spectacle of their death agonies, to hear their cries of anguish, and to take phonographic records of the same. The lower animals are not within measurable distance of this level of depravity as yet. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 10 by Sidney H. Beard Pdf

Excerpt from The Herald of the Golden Age, Vol. 10: January, 1905 The primitive man, therefore, could not afford to be very selective in his dietary. He ate his natural food when he could get it, but he survived the worst disasters by his capacity of adapting himself to any sort of food that was available. Man, in his times of need, became an omnivorous feeder, and often and often the habit of eating unnatural foods, which he commenced in times of stress and famine, clung to him even when the need passed away.
