Nanoscale Materials in Targeted Drug Delivery, Theragnosis and Tissue Regeneration by Sudesh Kumar Yadav Pdf

This book is the first of its kind to offer a comprehensive and up-to-date discussion of the use of nanoscale materials for biomedical applications, with a particular focus on drug delivery, theragnosis and tissue regeneration. It also describes in detail the methods used in the preparation of nanoparticles. Response of nanoparticles in biological systems are also explored. Nanotechnology has led to the advent of a new field, nanomedicine, which focuses on the use of nanomaterials as drug-delivery vehicles to develop highly selective and effective drugs. The combination of molecular imaging and nanotechnology has produced theragnostic nanoparticles, which allow the simultaneous detection and monitoring of diseases. Nanotechnology can also be combined with biomaterials to create scaffolds for tissue regeneration. Further, significant advances have been made in the areas of drug delivery, theragnostic nanoparticles and tissue regeneration materials. Some nanomedicines and tissue regeneration materials are already commercially available, while others are undergoing clinical trials, and promising results have been documented. Despite the rapid advances in nanomedicine, there is a relative dearth of literature on the biomedical applications of nanoscale materials.

Diamond-based materials for biomedical applications by A.E. Mengesha,B-B.C. Youan Pdf

Nanodiamonds offer a potential novel template for drug delivery and targeting, because of their small primary particle size, purity, excellent properties, facile surface functionalization, high biocompatibility, and inexpensive large-scale synthesis. However, nanodiamond properties such as aggregation state, surface chemistry, and presence of impurities, as well as the localization and accumulation behavior at the organism level, must be controlled to maintain safety and retain efficacy of conjugated therapeutic agents. A clinically applicable approach requires investigation of biocompatibility, biodistribution, and biological fate of the nanodiamond as well as its conjugates.

Drug Delivery with Targeted Nanoparticles by Yılmaz Çapan,Adem Sahin,Hayrettin Tonbul Pdf

Nanotechnology has the potential to change every part of our lives. Today, nanotechnology-based products are used in many areas, and one of the most important areas is drug delivery. Nanoparticulate drug delivery systems not only provide controlled delivery of drugs and improved drug solubility but also improve drug efficiency and reduce side effects via targeting mechanisms. However, compared with conventional drug delivery systems, few nanoparticle-based products are on the market and almost all are nontargeted or only passively targeted systems. In addition, obtaining targeted nanoparticle systems is quite complex and requires several evaluation mechanisms. This book discusses the production, characterization, regulation, and currently marketed targeted nanoparticle systems in a broad framework. It provides an overview of targeted nanoparticles’ (i) in vitro characterization, such as particle size, stability, ligand density, and type; (ii) in vivo behavior for different targeting areas, such as tumor, brain, and vagina; and (iii) current advances in this field, including clinical trials and regulation processes.

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NANOCOMPOSITES FOR DRUG DELIVERY APPLICATIONS by V. Karthika Pdf

The synthesis and characterization of nanocomposites for drug delivery applications is an emerging field that aims to develop safe and effective drug delivery systems with enhanced therapeutic efficacy. Nanocomposites are composed of different types of nanoparticles, polymers, and other materials that can be precisely engineered to achieve specific drug delivery goals. These materials are typically biocompatible and biodegradable, allowing for controlled release of drugs over an extended period of time. The synthesis and characterization of nanocomposites involve the preparation of the nanoparticles and their subsequent incorporation into the polymer matrix or other material. Different types of nanoparticles, such as magnetic nanoparticles, gold nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, and lipid-based nanoparticles, can be utilized depending on the intended application. Surface modification techniques can be employed to enhance the stability, biocompatibility, and specificity of the nanocomposites for targeted drug delivery. Characterization of nanocomposites is crucial to understanding their physicochemical properties, drug-loading capacity, and drug release kinetics. Techniques such as dynamic light scattering, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy can be used to characterize the nanocomposites. The use of nanocomposites for drug delivery applications has several advantages, including improved drug solubility, enhanced bioavailability, and reduced toxicity. Moreover, the development of stimuli-responsive nanocomposites that respond to changes in environmental factors such as pH, temperature, and magnetic field can further enhance drug delivery efficacy. The synthesis and characterization of nanocomposites for drug delivery applications represent a promising approach for the development of safe and effective drug delivery systems with enhanced therapeutic efficacy. However, further studies are needed to optimize the design of nanocomposites and to assess their toxicity and biocompatibility. Nanomaterial has promising application of all technology development. Nanomaterial has one or more dimension in the nanometer scale (100 nm) range and subsequently show novel properties from their bulk materials. Nanotechnology, led by the development of nanoparticles (NPs) -based drug delivery systems and imaging contrast agents, has had an important role in diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of the disease. The use of nanotechnology for cancer therapy and imaging is expected to overcome the limitations of conventional treatments, such as poor drug bioavailability, nonspecific systemic drug distribution, inadequate drug concentrations reaching the tumor and inability to monitor therapeutic responses in real time.
