The Flat-Coated Retriever: A Complete and Comprehensive Owners Guide To: Buying, Owning, Health, Grooming, Training, Obedience, Understanding and by Michael Stonewood Pdf

Flat-Coated Retriever is a breed of gun-dog that originates from, and was developed in, the United Kingdom. The breed was developed in the mid-19th century to be a retriever that is capable of retrieving prey both on land and in the water. The Flat-Coated Retriever is believed to be a descendant of the now extinct St. John's Water Dog which originated from North America. However it is also believed that the Flat-Coated Retriever is also related to the Canadian Newfoundland (a Collie-type dog) and the Setter. The Newfoundland blood was used to give the Flat-Coated Retriever an increased level of trainability whereas the Setter blood was used to give the Flat-Coated Retriever an enhanced ability to scent prey. The Flat-Coated Retriever has a strong muscular jaw and a relatively long muzzle which makes it extremely capable of carrying birds and upland game. The Flat-Coated Retriever has a unique head which is described as being 'of one piece, ' which means that its back-skull is a similar length to its muzzle. The Flat-Coated Retriever has dark brown, almond shaped eyes which give the breed an intelligent and friendly expression. The breed has relatively small ears that hang close the dog's head in a pendant shape. The Flat-Coated Retriever has a light body build than most other Retrievers which aids in the breed's ability to be lighter on its feet, racier and have a more elegant appearance. The Flat-Coated Retriever's coat comes in a solid black or a solid liver (brownish-red) coloration. The breed's coat is straight, moderately long and dense which allows the Flat-Coated Retriever to be protected from all types of weather conditions, water and ground cover. The breed has a lot of feather across its ears, chest, front, backs of its forelegs, underside and tail which aids in the coat's protective function. Due to the fact that it is a Retriever, the Flat-Coated Retriever is a highly intelligent and energetic breed. It is therefore important to make sure that you properly exercise your Flat-Coated Retriever (both physically and mentally) as it is likely to develop destructive behaviors due to boredom or having an abundance of energy. However the Flat-Coated Retriever is also a highly trainable and eager to please breed that excels in obedience related activities. Due to the fact that the Flat-Coated Retriever is incredibly loyal, friendly and trainable, it makes a perfect household pet as it is very easy to socialize with children, strangers and other household pets. Before purchasing any pet it is important to understand that as a pet owner you are responsible for the care and wellbeing of your pet. It is important to try and learn as much as you can about the animal you are considering to keep as a pet to make sure that your lifestyle, household and financial status are suited to provide your pet with the best possible care. The Golden Retriever is one of the most popular breeds of dog in the United States of America and United Kingdom. The Golden Retriever is a large breed of dog. It was bred for the purpose of being a gun dog that would be able to retriever shot waterfowl, ducks and upland game during hunting and shooting parties. The breed has been called 'retriever' due to the fact that they are capable of retrieving the prey without damaging it. They have a dense inner coat that allows them to stay warm in the outdoors and an outer coat that repels water. The Golden Retriever is a long-haired breed and shed copiously if not groomed on a regular basis. They are a highly intelligent breed and are often trained to be disability dogs (caring for the deaf and blind), search and rescue dogs, detection dogs and as previously mentioned hunting dogs. There are three types of Golden Retriever: The American type, the British type and the Canadian type. The Coton de Tulear: A Complete and Comprehensive Owners Guide To: Buying, Owning, Health, Grooming, Training, Obedience, Understanding and by Michael Stonewood Pdf

The Coton de Tulear is a small breed of dog that originates from Madagascar, as is actually the island's nation dog. The breed is named after the city of Tuléar, which is located in Madagascar, and for its cotton-like coat texture. The breed is believed to be a descendant of the Tenerife dog that has been mated with a breed native to Madagascar during the 16th century. The Coton de Tulear is a member of the Bichon typing and is still closely related to the Bichon Tenerife and the Tenerife Terrier. The Coton de Tulear has always been a companion dog and has never been feral. Unlike most other breeds of dog developed in Madagascar, the Coton de Tulear has never been used to hunt wild boar or alligators, as its size and strength prove. The Coton de Tulear also has a nonexistent prey drive which further suggests that the breed has always been a companion dog. The breed's cotton-like coat is believed to be a result of a single gene mutation. The Coton de Tulear has a medium-to-long coat that is considered to be hair rather than fur. Despite having long hair the breed is considered to be hypoallergenic as it barely ever sheds once it is full grown - however, like the Poodle and Havanese, the Coton de Tulear will shed its puppy coat. The breed's coat comes in three standardize colorations: white, black and white, and tricolor (which is a mixture of black, white and tan). As a whole the Coton de Tulear is known to be a highly affectionate, intelligent and playful breed. They fit perfectly well into a family household environment. Despite their small size, it is recommended to keep a Coton de Tulear in a house, rather than an apartment, as they are very vocal and will grunt, bark and whine often while playing. The Goldendoodle: A Complete and Comprehensive Owners Guide To: Buying, Owning, Health, Grooming, Training, Obedience, Understanding and by Michael Stonewood Pdf

The Goldendoodle is a cross-breed of dog that was obtained by breeding a Poodle with a Golden Retriever. The Goldendoodle began being developed during the 1990s in both North America and Australia. The breed was originally being developed to attempt to create a hypoallergenic guide dog suitable for visually impaired people who have an allergy to dog hair. The Goldendoodle has three main coat types: the straight coat, the wavy coat and the curly coat. The straight coat lies flat the Goldendoodle's body and resembles the coat of a Golden Retriever. The wavy coat is the most common coat type is a mixture of the Poodle's curly coat and the Golden Retriever's straight coat. The curly coat resembles the coat found on a standard Poodle. The Goldendoodle's coat can come in a plethora of colorations but will most commonly be: white, cream, gold, red, brown apricot or black. The Goldendoodle has mainly been used as a guide dogs, therapy dogs, search and rescue dogs and diabetic dogs as they have inherited the Golden Retriever's ease of training and the Poodle's relatively high level of intelligence. The temperament of dogs is normally affected by the following factors: individual personality, heredity, training and socialization. It is therefore important to make sure that you meet the puppy's mother before purchasing a Goldendoodle. It is also important to make sure to thoroughly socialize your Goldendoodle with strangers, children and other animals during its puppyhood. Generally speaking, the Goldendoodle is a highly loyal, affectionate and even tempered breed which has allowed the Goldendoodle to become an increasingly popular choice for a household pet. It is important to note that as a cross between two working breeds, the Goldendoodle has a high amount of energy which needs to be expended. If the Goldendoodle has a buildup of energy it is likely to develop destructive behaviors due to boredom or hyperactivity. The Collie: A Complete and Comprehensive Owners Guide To: Buying, Owning, Health, Grooming, Training, Obedience, Understanding and by Michael Stonewood Pdf

The Collie is a breed of dog that originates from Scotland, primarily from the Highland regions. The breed's name has two potential points of origin. Some historians believe that the name 'Collie' is based upon the Anglo-Saxon word 'coll' which means black. Other historians believe that the breeds name is based upon the Scottish black-faced sheep named 'Colley, ' as the Collie was used to guard these sheep on a regular basis. However most historians agree that the Collie is probably descended from breeds of dog introduced to the United Kingdom by Roman conquerors almost two thousand years ago! Traditionally the Collie was predominately black coated and was much closer in size and shape to today's Border Collie. The breed traditionally had no standardized appearance due to it being bred for intelligence, herding and working ability rather than looks. The breed was widely employed as a herding dog and was known to herd, and guard, cattle, pigs, sheep and goats on a regular basis. In the 1860's Queen Victoria of England fell in love with the good natured temperament and appearance of the Collie and introduced them into English culture, where the breed was known as the 'Scottish Sheep-Dog.' The Collie comes in two potential coat variants: rough and smooth. The rough coated variant has a long, abundant and straight outer coat that is rough to the touch and a soft, thick and furry undercoat. The smooth coat variant has a shorter, dense and flat outercoat and a thick undercoat. The breed's coat comes in four colors: tricolor (black with white and tan markings), white, blue merle (silvery blue and black) and sable (which is commonly known as the 'Lassie' coat coloration). As a whole the breed is known to be incredibly good natured, affectionate and gentle. The Collie thrives in a household environment and enjoys spending time with its family unit. The Collie is also incredibly good around children as they are both protective and playful. The Collie is highly intelligent and is known to be willing to risk its own wellbeing to protect members of its family. Before purchasing any pet it is important to understand that as a pet owner you are responsible for the care and wellbeing of your pet. The Boykin Spaniel: A Complete and Comprehensive Owners Guide To: Buying, Owning, Health, Grooming, Training, Obedience, Understanding and by Michael Stonewood Pdf

The Boykin Spaniel is a medium-sized breed of dog that is a member of the Spaniel grouping. The breed is also commonly known as the 'Swamp Poodle, ' the 'LBD' (Little Brown Dog) and simply as the 'Boykin.' The Boykin Spaniel originates from the United States of America. The breed was originally developed for the purpose of hunting turkeys and ducks in the Wateree River Swamp located in South Carolina. However due to their stamina in hot weather and eagerness to hunt, the Boykin Spaniel was quickly used for dove hunts and to hunt pheasants and other larger game. The Boykin Spaniel is actually the state dog of South Carolina. The Boykin Spaniel is slightly larger than the English Cocker Spaniel but has a much heavier body. The breed has no standard coat type or coloration due to the breed recent background. It is not uncommon for the Boykin Spaniel's coat to be curly in a similar style to the American Water Spaniel's coat, fine and straight like a Field Spaniel's coat and shorter and straighter like a Labrador Retriever's coat. As a whole, the Boykin Spaniel is known to be a friendly, sociable and loyal breed that makes it a perfect family pet. It is important to note that the Boykin Spaniel is a highly energetic breed. If it is not exercised properly it is highly likely that a Boykin Spaniel will develop destructive behaviors, due to boredom and having an abundance of excess energy.
