Traveling on Your Own Traveling in Your Car Relationships Going Wrong No Means No To drink Or Not to Drink; That Is the Question Learning How to Fight Back How to Protect Yourself Against Grabs Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction I wrote this book to share what I have learned in gun handling and to give some idea, not only to women but also to men, of how a woman perceives this man-dominated “gadget” or equipment. I would say that 99% of women who know how to handle a gun or who are engaged in practical shooting as a sport, were influenced by a male in their lives whether it is the father, husband, brother, boyfriend, uncle or a male friend. Gun ownership, inarguably, is a man’s world. But, it did not say that women cannot dip their fingers to it, if it is necessary, or even if she was just plain interested. In my case, the guilty party was my husband who suavely got my nod, first, for him to own a gun and later on, to join him on his shooting practice, tournaments and gun shows. I have to admit that in the beginning, I would cringe whenever I would see him working on his gun (and later on guns). I always have this thought that it will discharge accidentally and someone could get hurt. At that time, I could not even hold a gun. But then, gradually, I warmed up to it ---- I started holding the gun (no bullets, of course) until later on, my husband would be training me on how to hold it properly, how to get the right stance and eventually how to fire it. Believe it or not, within months, I was going with him on his practice shooting and tournaments. At first, I was the photographer and videographer. Eventually, I would be doing my own practice sessions and would join him on tournaments.

Gun Women by Mary Zeiss Stange,Carol K. Oyster Pdf

Women, we are told, should not own guns. Women, we are told, are more likely to be injured by their own guns than to fend off an attack themselves. This "fact" is rooted in a fundamental assumption of female weakness and vulnerability. Why should a woman not be every bit as capable as a man of using a firearm in self-defense? And yet the reality is that millions of American women--somewhere between 11,000,000 and 17,000,000--use guns confidently and competently every day. Women are hunting, using firearms in their work as policewomen and in the military, shooting for sport, and arming themselves for personal security in ever-increasing numbers. What motivates women to possess firearms? What is their relationship to their guns? And who exactly are these women? Crucially, can a woman be a gun-owner and a feminist too? Women's growing tendency to arm themselves has in recent years been political fodder for both the right and the left. Female gun owners are frequently painted as "trying to be like men" (the conservative perspective) or "capitulating to patriarchal ideas about power" (the liberal critique). Eschewing the polar extremes in the heated debate over gun ownership and gun control, and linking firearms and feminism in novel fashion, Mary Zeiss Stange and Carol K. Oyster here cut through the rhetoric to paint a precise and unflinching account of America's gun women.

The Handgun Guide for Women by Tara Dixon Engel Pdf

The perfect book for any woman who is interested in purchasing, selecting, and owning a gun, from her first to her five-hundredth firearm. The Handgun Guide for Women gives a public voice to the legions of female gun enthusiasts in the United States. It is a common sense, step-by-step guide to making the decision to purchase a gun, selecting the correct gun, securely keeping a gun in the home, and maintaining the proficiency necessary to be a safe gun owner 100 percent of the time. The book also defies the theory among the popular media that women are, by their maternal nature, anti-gun. Author Tara Dixon Engel, an NRA-certified instructor in handguns, rifles, shotguns, personal defense, and home defense, writes that women should be gun advocates. A firearm is often the one thing that stands between your family and a predator. The Handgun Guide for Women reflects a passionate belief in the Second Amendment. It is a straightforward and meticulously clear representation of the responsibilities involved in gun ownership and is the perfect book for anyone who is considering owning a gun or who has been a proud gun owner for many years.

When it comes to writing weapons, most authors shoot from the hip--and miss. The Writer's Guide to Weapons will help you hit your target every time. Firearms and knives have starring roles in a wide range of genres--crime, thriller, war, mystery, Western, and more. Unfortunately, many depictions of weapons in novels and film are pure fiction. Knowing the difference between a shotshell and a slug, a pistol and a revolver, or a switchblade and a butterfly knife is essential for imbuing your story with authenticity--and gaining popularity with discerning readers. Inside you'll find: • An in-depth look at the basics of firearms and knives: how they work, why they work, what they look like, and how to depict them accurately in your stories. • The biggest weapons myths in fiction, TV, and film. • A surefire guide for choosing the correct weapon for your characters, no matter their skill level, strength, or background. • A review of major gun and knife laws, weapons safety tips, and common police tactics. • "The Hit List," showcasing the most popular weapons for spies, detectives, gunslingers, gangsters, military characters, and more. • Examples highlighting inaccurate vs. accurate weapons depictions. • An insightful foreword by David Morrell, the award-winning creator of Rambo.
