Control Strategies of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drive for Electric Vehicles by Chiranjit Sain,Atanu Banerjee,Pabitra Kumar Biswas Pdf

To reduce the emissions of greenhouse gasses and maintain environmental sustainability, electric vehicles play a vital role in a modern energy-efficient environment. Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) are widely employed in electric vehicle technology due to their high dynamic response, better torque-speed characteristics, noiseless operation, high power density, high efficiency and power factor as compared to other conventional motor drives. This book demonstrates the development of various control strategies and illustrates the dynamic performance intensification of a PMSM drive. To ensure the faster dynamic behaviour and flexibility in control under various operating conditions, the performance of a PMSM drive has been explained. Finally, control strategies have been executed through mathematical modelling and illustration of several case studies for optimal operation. Features: Introduces performance indicators in a self-controlled PMSM machine to justify the dynamic behaviour Discusses comparative performance study and optimization of the drive performance Provides a detailed comparative performance analysis between classical and fuzzy logic controllers in a PMSM drive Includes illustrations and case studies using mathematical modelling and real-time test results Discusses the state of the art in solar-powered energy-efficient PMSM drives with various issues This book is aimed at researchers, graduate students and libraries in electrical engineering with specialization in electric vehicles.

Decision Making, Planning, and Control Strategies for Intelligent Vehicles by Haotian Cao,Mingjun Li,Song Zhao,Xiaolin Song Pdf

The intelligent vehicle will play a crucial and essential role in the development of the future intelligent transportation system, which is developing toward the connected driving environment, ultimate driving safety, and comforts, as well as green efficiency. While the decision making, planning, and control are extremely vital components of the intelligent vehicle, these modules act as a bridge, connecting the subsystem of the environmental perception and the bottom-level control execution of the vehicle as well. This short book covers various strategies of designing the decision making, trajectory planning, and tracking control, as well as share driving, of the human-automation to adapt to different levels of the automated driving system. More specifically, we introduce an end-to-end decision-making module based on the deep Q-learning, and improved path-planning methods based on artificial potentials and elastic bands which are designed for obstacle avoidance. Then, the optimal method based on the convex optimization and the natural cubic spline is presented. As for the speed planning, planning methods based on the multi-object optimization and high-order polynomials, and a method with convex optimization and natural cubic splines, are proposed for the non-vehicle-following scenario (e.g., free driving, lane change, obstacle avoidance), while the planning method based on vehicle-following kinematics and the model predictive control (MPC) is adopted for the car-following scenario. We introduce two robust tracking methods for the trajectory following. The first one, based on nonlinear vehicle longitudinal or path-preview dynamic systems, utilizes the adaptive sliding mode control (SMC) law which can compensate for uncertainties to follow the speed or path profiles. The second one is based on the five-degrees-of-freedom nonlinear vehicle dynamical system that utilizes the linearized time-varying MPC to track the speed and path profile simultaneously. Toward human-automation cooperative driving systems, we introduce two control strategies to address the control authority and conflict management problems between the human driver and the automated driving systems. Driving safety field and game theory are utilized to propose a game-based strategy, which is used to deal with path conflicts during obstacle avoidance. Driver's driving intention, situation assessment, and performance index are employed for the development of the fuzzy-based strategy. Multiple case studies and demos are included in each chapter to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach. We sincerely hope the contents of this short book provide certain theoretical guidance and technical supports for the development of intelligent vehicle technology.

Control Strategies for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and Autonomous Driving Functions by Harald Waschl,Ilya Kolmanovsky,Frank Willems Pdf

This book describes different methods that are relevant to the development and testing of control algorithms for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving functions (ADF). These control algorithms need to respond safely, reliably and optimally in varying operating conditions. Also, vehicles have to comply with safety and emission legislation. The text describes how such control algorithms can be developed, tested and verified for use in real-world driving situations. Owing to the complex interaction of vehicles with the environment and different traffic participants, an almost infinite number of possible scenarios and situations that need to be considered may exist. The book explains new methods to address this complexity, with reference to human interaction modelling, various theoretical approaches to the definition of real-world scenarios, and with practically-oriented examples and contributions, to ensure efficient development and testing of ADAS and ADF. Control Strategies for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and Autonomous Driving Functions is a collection of articles by international experts in the field representing theoretical and application-based points of view. As such, the methods and examples demonstrated in the book will be a valuable source of information for academic and industrial researchers, as well as for automotive companies and suppliers.

Air Quality Monitoring and Control Strategy by S.P Singal Pdf

AIR QUALITY MONITORING AND CONTROL STRATEGY essentially deals with air quality and underlines a strategy to improve it. To this effect this volume describes briefly the problem of air pollution, impact of various pollutants present in the indoor/outdoor atmosphere on health, the various monitoring techniques/instruments and their practical use, instructions, precautions etc., control instrumentation and environment impact assessment. The answer to questions like the need for air quality monitoring, choice of monitoring location and parameters, averaging time and frequencies etc. has been provided along with the basic statistics required to work out certain statistical figures in air quality. The science of meteorology, an important subject that takes care of dispersion/dilution of air pollutants at a place, has been discussed briefly. A chapter on noise pollution, another vital air toxicant, has also been dealt with to a certain limit. Two case studies have been incorporated to elucidate the importance of EIA and the need to develop a strategy for management of ambient air quality. Revised new standards have also been included.

The International Symposium on Dynamics of Vehicles on Roads and Tracks is the leading international gathering of scientists and engineers from academia and industry in the field of ground vehicle dynamics to present and exchange their latest innovations and breakthroughs. Established in Vienna in 1977, the International Association of Vehicle System Dynamics (IAVSD) has since held its biennial symposia throughout Europe and in the USA, Canada, Japan, South Africa and China. The main objectives of IAVSD are to promote the development of the science of vehicle dynamics and to encourage engineering applications of this field of science, to inform scientists and engineers on the current state-of-the-art in the field of vehicle dynamics and to broaden contacts among persons and organisations of the various countries engaged in scientific research and development in the field of vehicle dynamics and related areas. IAVSD 2017, the 25th Symposium of the International Association of Vehicle System Dynamics was hosted by the Centre for Railway Engineering at Central Queensland University, Rockhampton, Australia in August 2017. The symposium focused on the following topics related to road and rail vehicles and trains: dynamics and stability; vibration and comfort; suspension; steering; traction and braking; active safety systems; advanced driver assistance systems; autonomous road and rail vehicles; adhesion and friction; wheel-rail contact; tyre-road interaction; aerodynamics and crosswind; pantograph-catenary dynamics; modelling and simulation; driver-vehicle interaction; field and laboratory testing; vehicle control and mechatronics; performance and optimization; instrumentation and condition monitoring; and environmental considerations.
